The Greens therefore extend their unbeaten record to 12 matches, staying three points clear of second-placed Gzira United. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, continue to disappoint with a sixth defeat in eight matches. It was Santa Lucia who cre- ated the first danger on the 11th minute with a splendid Kevin Ante Roseri freekick which ended over the bar. The Southsiders continued on the offensive and six mnutes later Mendoza had a low shot parried by Floriana goalie Ini Etim Akpan. Floriana replied on the 23rd minute with a strong shot by Brandon Paiber which was saved by Santa Lu- cia custodian Ryan Caruana. The Greens came out very strong in the opening minutes of the second half and in the 48th minute they had a strong shot from inside the area by Garcia which hit the bar. Floriana managed to break the deadlock on the 57th min- ute thanks to a Diego Venan- cio da Silva precise freekick from the edge of the penalty area. Two minutes later, Tia- go Adan Fonseca doubled the score with a shot from outside the area which ended at the back of the net. One minute in added time, Adam Magri Overend pulled one back for Santa Lucia.
