His eleventh-hour decision means he will not contest in the south, where it was expect- ed that he would run in the 5th district, from where he hails, Birżebbugia. Instead, he will run in both the 11th and 12th districts, tra- ditionally Nationalist strong- holds in which former PN leader Simon Busuttil both contested in 2017. The 12th district also has the largest expected number of non-voters, which Grech will be targeting in a bid to bolster the Nationalists' vote. The finalised agreements with Smart City and AUM were discussed in Cabinet last week and are expected to be tabled in parliament for con- sideration by the National Au- dit Office Accounts Commit- tee that deals with public land transfers. AUM will relinquish its title on land at Żonqor Point, where it had to build a fully-fledged university campus for 4,000 students, and a public car park in Bormla, which was going to be developed into a dormitory. The Żonqor area included the former national swimming pool and a tract of land outside the development zone.
