MCO Big Band Swings dedicated
to Joe Cutajar and Sammy Murgo
FOLLOWING the outstanding suc-
cess of previous swing concerts, the
Malta Concert Orchestra shall open
this year's summer season at Pjazza
Teatru Rjal with MCO BIG BAND
SWINGS under the direction of
Maestro Paul Abela.
Pjazza Teatru Rjal will dedicate this
year's edition to the memory of two
local veterans of jazz and swing who
passed away earlier on this year –
singer Joe Cutajar and saxophonist
Sammy Murgo – both of whom had
appeared as soloists with the MCO
on the Pjazza Teatru Rjal stage.
This will be the first in this season's
busy summer schedule for the MCO
that shall include MCO Pop, Funk,
Rock on June 28, a concert featuring
the most popular Cartoni Animati
theme songs from the 80's and 90's
on July 26, the ever popular and an-
nual appointment with Notte Ital-
iana on August 23, and MCO Soul,
Rhythm 'n' Blues on September 13
among others.
Students and senior citizens may
benefit from special discounts (terms
and conditions apply). Concert starts
at 8.30pm.
