Solely established through the unwavering endeavour of the family of the late artist George Fenech (1926 – 2011), this build- ing celebrates the artist's legacy whilst offering visitors a diverse collection of artworks, spanning over the decades capturing the essence of Fenech's artistic evo- lution. The over 100 permanent artworks being exhibited, in fact promise an enriching experience for art enthusiasts and casual ob- servers alike. The exhibits guide visitors through George Fenech's artistic journey, starting from his early days at the Malta Government School of Art in Valletta, then continuing to the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome, and finally, his return to Malta to establish his own studio. The visitor will tour Fenech's roles as both a family man and an art teacher, examin- ing how these aspects influenced his artistic growth through the various paintings. The Muse- um also showcases a wide range of genres that Fenech painted, including still-lifes, portraits, landscapes, group compositions, folklore, religious themes, and his work in printing and stamp design across various mediums. As part of the experience, visi- tors will have the opportunity to explore a recreation of the artist's studio, complete with original items, providing a glimpse into Fenech's environment. Named in honour of the es- teemed artist George Fenech, the museum and gallery aim to pro- vide a welcoming space for indi- viduals to explore and appreciate the beauty of his art. With a focus of establishing itself as a new cul- tural space, the Art Museum and Gallery is dedicated to celebrating the legacy of artist George Fenech whilst providing a platform for artists to showcase their work.
