3 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 30 AUGUST 2024 NEWS GozoToday is a weekly newspaper focused primarily on Gozo. It hopes to serve as a source of information on business, culture, entertainment and of course current affairs. Gozo has a special charm about it but it is also a bustling Island with an identity of its own. We will strive to bring you the news over the next three months. At this stage we are planning to take advantage of the influx of local and foreign visitors to this marvellous Mediterranean Island. But we could be tempted to continue with this newspaper project beyond the Summer months. GozoToday will be published every Friday and is available to numerous outlets in Gozo and on the ferries that carry so many visitors to Gozo from Malta and beyond. GozoToday MediaToday Co. "Substantial archeological find- ings discovered during excavation works were integrated within the school grounds thereby preserv- ing and giving a higher value to these discoveries." Because of the archaeological remains found on site, all excava- tion and construction work was carried out under the supervision of archaeologists from the Super- intendence of Cultural Heritage. Analysis studies on the discor- vered artefacts is still underway. To properly preserve the ar- chaeological remains, an archae- ological interpretation centre was built within the school building. This will help school children develop a better awareness for the importance of respecting and cherishing the cultural and histor- ical heritage. The new primary school will have 16 classes for years of pri- mary education and 10 classes for kindergarten. It will also have classes for spe- cific subjects, including science, information technology and the arts. Together, the primary school and kindergarten will be able to accommodate about 650 children. There will also be a childcare centre and several sports facilities in the new school building. 3,000 sq.m of the school's entire 8,000 sq.m are reserved for sports and recreation. As part of this project, FTS has carried out works in relation to the extension and full refur- bishment of the existing middle school on the campus. The whole project is expected to cost €18 million. New primary school will include 3,000 sq.m for sports and recreation Neville Young, chief executive at the Foundation for Tomorrow's Schools (inset) said the new primary school will open its doors in Spetember (Photos: Joseph Mercieca)
