maltatoday | SUNDAY • 6 OCTOBER 2024 5 ALMANAC Nature Notebook 939. Sea Daffodil WHEN you walk on a sandy beach, you expect to find dead seaweed, plastic bottles, etc.. The last thing you expect is a plant with large white flowers simply begging you to stoop and smell their delicate fragrance. Yet there it lies: the delicate sea daffodil growing in a tan- gle of curly grey-green leaves. The leaves will by now be past their prime but the flowers are still in full display mode, though some may already be wilting and growing seeds for the next generation. The sea daffodil (M. pankrazju or narċis il-baħar) is rare because its natural habitat – coastal sand dunes – is also rare in Malta. So if you chance upon this beach beauty, fill your lungs with its fragrance, take a bunch of pictures for your social media, but DON'T pick any of the flowers, because every flower you pick means a few dozen Farm Visit to Ta' Frawla Join Friends of the Earth Malta for a Farm Visit at Ta' Frawla! The system raises the price of concert tickets at times of high demand. When Oasis' UK dates went on sale, some fans were charged more than £350 for tickets with an initial face value of £150. Country music superstar Garth Brooks has been accused of rape, sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed in California state court. The accuser, using the pseudonym "Jane Roe", was working as a hairstylist and makeup artist for the Grammy- winning singer when he raped her, the lawsuit states. The band faced significant backlash, and the UK's competition regulator launched an investigation into whether Ticketmaster breached consumer protection law. The woman's lawsuit alleges that he also repeatedly groped her and made sexually explicit comments to her during her employment from 2017-20.
