7 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 13 JUNE 2025 NEWS DEMOLITION and excavation works shall be prohibited from se- lected touristic areas between the 15th of June and the 30th of Sep- tember 2025. This initiative, which is being coordinated between the Building and Construction Au- thority (BCA) and the Malta Tour- ism Authority (MTA), takes into account the inconvenience that construction sites cause on sur- rounding residences and hotels. The enforcement of Subsidiary Legislation 623.08 (third Sched- ule 1c) is one way of alleviating the inconvenience that construc- tion sites cause both on the tour- ism industry and on the number of Maltese families moving to live in these areas. The demoli- tion and excavation phases at a construction site are an incon- venience to the surrounding res- idences. Any illegal demolition and ex- cavation works carried out be- tween the 15th of June and the 30th of September 2025 in the identified localities and streets, may be reported to the Build- ing and Construction Authority (BCA) on number 138 for both Malta and Gozo, during and after office hours. The MTA is the competent Au- thority which identifies localities and roads where demolition or excavation works cannot be car- ried out. The MTA reserves the right to change or amend the list of roads as it deems necessary. You can view the full list of lo- calities and roads where dem- olition or excavation works are prohibited during the summer months on the MTA website: www.mta.com.mt/en/summer- breaktime2025 Cessation of demolition and excavation works in summer touristic areas
