NOVEMBER 14 @ 09:00 - 17:00 Lumen Ecclesiae Teatru Astra Triq ir-Repubblika, Victoria, Gozo, Malta Lumen Ecclesiæ – Allegoria is a com- pelling exhibition that brings to light the enduring power of symbolism in sacred and cultural art. The centre- piece of the exhi- bition features two life-size allegorical statues crafted by the distinguished Maltese sculptors Vincenzo Maria Cremona and Chev. Michael Camill- eri Cauchi. These works, rich in narrative depth and spiritual resonance, serve as visual med- itations on ecclesiastical themes and the broader human condition. As part of the accompanying cultural program, a public talk will be held on the 8th of November, focusing on the evaluation of art and the interpreta- tion of allegories in both historical and contemporary contexts. This discussion will be led by Paul Cassar BA (Hons), MA (Melit.), and Mgr Joseph Farrugia. NOVEMBER 14 @ 09:00 - 17:00 The Four Faces of Her Citadel Victoria Gozo Hall It-Telgħa tal-Belt, Victoria, Gozo, Malta The Four Faces of Her is a thought-pro- voking exhibition by Abi Macleod. Rooted in the theme "In the house of the divine feminine", the exhibition invites visitors to explore the multifaceted nature of feminine identity through a series of artistic expressions. The four faces of her in the house of the divine feminine explores the shifting landscapes of womanhood – from Maiden to mother, wild woman to wise one. Through abstract colour, gold leaf and written word, each piece invites reflec- tion on where you stand in your own unfolding journey. The event also features free workshops designed to encourage creative participation, reflection, and community con- nection. While admis- sion and participation are free, attendees are encouraged to support the Women for Wom- en Foundation through voluntary donations. NOVEMBER 15 @ 09:00 - 12:00 A Thing of Beauty Banca Giuratale Pjazza Indipendenza, Victoria, Gozo, Malta This time, I drew inspi- ration from my favourite poet, John Keats, quoting the opening words of his timeless line: "A thing of beauty is a joy forev- er." These four words perfectly capture what I strive for in my art—to create beauty that heals both body and soul. Choosing the painting to represent this exhibition was no easy task, but one piece ultimately stood out. "Lights in the Dark"—a vibrant, life-filled work painted entirely with my fingers—de- picts cars waiting on a cold, rainy night, their headlights blazing and reflecting on the wet tarmac. Yet, when viewed from afar, each person finds their own meaning within it. Later, I recreated the same scene using brushes, and though the result was quite different, it proved equally pleasing in its own unique way. NOVEMBER 15 @ 11:00 - 12:30 Photography in Gozo il-Ħaġar Gozo Museum Triq il-Karita`, Victoria, Gozo, Malta Since its introduction to Malta in 1839, photography has become a vital medi- um for documenting people, customs, and events. Arriving in Gozo somewhat later, it played a crucial role in cap- turing images of a way of life that has since vanished. In the 4th Pawlu Mizzi Memorial Lecture, Dr Charles Paul Az- zopardi will explore how both Gozitan and non-Gozitan photographers used the camera to preserve the island's cul- tural memory. Dr Charles Paul Azzopardi is a physi- cian and photo-historian whose work focuses on 19th- and early 20-century Maltese photography. Founder of the Malta Image Preservation Archive (MI- PA), he has collaborated with national institutions and published widely on photographic heritage. NOVEMBER 15 @ 14:30 - 15:15 Chasing Rainbows - Żigużajg Festival Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School Soil Street, Xewkija, Gozo, Malta Chasing Rainbows is an immersive journey inviting babies and toddlers (ages 0 -2) on an ad- venture to discover the magic of colours through a giant, interactive book. The story follows Georgie, a non-verbal friend who experiences the world in vivid hues, and Ryan, an energetic and cheeky explorer. Together, they stumble upon a black-and-white book resem- bling a playable piano carpet. As the pages turn, the world transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour, revealing excit- ing new moments in this unique theatre production created especially for the littlest audiences. What's happening in Gozo Did you know? Ta' Sannat lies in the south of the island of Gozo. The name is probably derived from that of an Arabic-Greek family that moved to Gozo from Sicily. Ta' Sannat is best known for the Ta' Cenc plateau on the edge of the village and its spectacular Ta' Cenc cliffs, the highest cliffs in Gozo. The plateau is typical Maltese garigue rich in flora and fuana. It is also the site of a number of prehistoric remains, including sparse remnants of L-Imramma Temple and three dolmens (made up of, a roughly shaped horizontal limestone slab supported on three sides by blocks of stone standing on end). The plateau overlooks the Hanżira valley, a natural gorge with steep rocky sides separating Ta' Sannat from the village of ix-Xewkija, of which there are excellent views. 2 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 14 NOVEMBER 2025 EVENTS
