My essentials RAMONA ZAMMIT FORMOSA 52, teacher and musician Active as a pianist, harpsichordist and flautist for 35 years. I teach at the Malta School of Music and the Visual Performing Arts. I have performed in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, England, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and USA both as a soloist and chamber musician. I have dedicated solo recitals to the keyboard masters: Rameau, J.S Bach, CPE Bach, Reggio, Mozart, Grieg, Liszt and Mro. Pawlu Grech. 1. Book 2. Film 3. Internet 4. TV 5. Place BESIDES classical music, which I am trained in, I enjoy listening to all gen- res from rock to praise and worship. Classically, any interpretation of Hélène Grimaud is a source of in- spiration. She has a close connection with nature, believing in sustainability. In 1999, she founded the Wolf Conservation Center near New York and as an animal lover, I can relate with nature, animals and music. Her playing is very poetic and spiritual, thus making it always so genu- ine and pure. RECENTLY I visited Palma di Mallorca. I like the Mediterra- nean climate with the copious greenery, rugged mountains and sea. The food is extremely tasty as many Mallorcans have their own fields and grow their own crops. The people are very open have an altruistic, bubbly char- acter. THE Fifth Mountain by Pau- lo Coelho. This book is based on the biblical story of the prophet Elijah. This book ex- plores themes of freedom of choice, sacrifice and spirit- uality as Elijah faces many difficult obstacles which he manages to overcome through the power of faith and wisdom with the odds stacked against him. The nar- rative shows how tragedy can be shifted from punishment to encouragement. LIFE Is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni. This film is a mix of drama, hope and resilience in the face of the harrowing real- ity of the Second World War. There is a balance of comedy and tragedy while still show- ing the horrors of the war. I like the incredible way Guido Orefice uses humour to devi- ate his child Giosuè from the horror surrounding him. I love watching come- dy and enjoy TV better than the internet. An ev- ergreen classic to me has always been Keeping Up Appearances, where re- freshing humour is used without being confusing and complicated, essen- tial when watching after a day's work.
