OCTOBER 18; 20-27 The Lost Epigraph Trilogy Malta Historical Society lecture on Mattia Preti, October 22 EXHIBITIONS OCTOBER 18-20 Hermetik Exhibition of various large-scale indoor and outdoor installations at one of Malta's historical landmarks, the 18th-century fortress Fort Tigne' in Sliema. Maltese artists Norbert Francis Attard and Raphael Vella, and Belgian architect Tom Van Malderen display various installations specifically made for and relating to the military architecture and its history. Curated by Michael Bock. Opening hours: 10:00 to 18:00. The exhibition will be inaugurated on October 11 at 17:00. OCTOBER 18 – NOVEMBER 10 4 Rooms Photographic exhibition by Ritty Tacsum at the Upper Galleries of St James Cavalier, Valletta. The project is accompanied by a four-part short story by Loranne Vella – published in an exhibition booklet designed by artist Julian Mallia. OCTOBER 19-NOVEMBER 10 Divergent Thinkers 2 Collective exhibition presenting the work of young artists, curated by Raphael Vella and taking place at St James Cavalier, Valletta. Greek dancer Athanasia Kanellopoulou will be performing at the Manoel Theatre on October 29 and 30 UNTIL OCTOBER 20 A New Beginning Specialising in images printed onto brushed aluminium, photographer Richard Powers brings you a stunning collection of contemporary photographic images from his portfolio. FESTIVALS OCTOBER 19 Hamrun Chocolate Festival Fifth edition of the Hamrun Chocolate Festival taking place in the main streets of the town, featuring stalls and record-setting exhibitions from chocolate sculptors, among them Andrew Farrugia, who last year in Brussels set a new Guinness World Record for the longest chocolate structure in the world. Three short films by Dustin Cauchi will be screened at St James Cavalier Cinema, Valletta. The films are: Adieu Friedrich (2012), Sant Sant (2013) and Fenetre Fenetre (2013). The films will run for a total runtime of 55 minutes. The three films are not related to each other in terms of narrative or progressive conventions, but rather share temporal characteristics, namely that of starting off at a particular, arbitrary point. This arbitrary beginning, understood as a lack of introduction that the films share, gave rise to the idea of a 'lost epigraph'. OCTOBER 25 Stand-up Comedy at Lucky Jack's Stand-up comedy show at Lucky Jack's, Victoria Street, Gozo, at 21:00. Organised by The Wembley Store Boys. FILM SCREENINGS OCTOBER 20 First Autumn Walk at Majjistral Park Autumn walk organised by IlMajjistral Nature and History Park starting and ending near Golden Bay bus stop and walking along the clifftop of Rdum Majjiesa, from 15:00 until roughly 18:00. The walk is about 5-6km long along some uneven tracks. Children are welcome to join with parents if they're used to walking over rough ground. The walk is free of charge, though booking via email is required: walks@majjistral. org.
