49 Rabat Ajax .......................0 Tarxien Rainbows ............2 TARXIEN continued their positive form with a 2-0 victory over Rabat Ajax. This is Tarxien's third consecutive victory, which puts them at the top of the table in the Relegation Pool. Rabat remain at the bottom of the table with only four points. The first have was a tricky test for Tarxien as Rabat kept them out of their goal. Tarxien finally managed to break down Rabat's defense on the 52nd minute. Off a cross from the left, Jorge Santos Silva advanced past the Rabat defence before he beat goalkeeper Pav- le Velimirovic with his shot. The match turned for the worse a minute later for Rabat when they where reduced to ten men after Jonathan Ba- jada received his second yellow card. Tarxien doubled their lead on the 65th minute. Off a cross by Daniel Mariano Bueno, Demba Toure beat goalkeeper Pavle Velimirovic with a brilliant goal from close range. Tarxien kept on pressing till the end of the match, but the two goals were enough for them to secure victory. Valletta sit just two behind Birkirka- ra who still have a game in hand. Valletta, where the better side from the start. Their dominance paid of as they took the lead on the 21st minute. Off a cross by Denni Rocha dos San- tos, Jonathan Caruana had his header beat goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo. Balzan were unlucky not to equalise just eight minutes later as Pedro Cal- cado's freekick hit the woodwork and off the rebound, Balzan's players could not control the ball as it was then saved by goalkeeper Yenz Cini. On the 55th minute, Valletta dou- bled their lead. Lateef Elford-Alliyu made up for missing a goal scoring opportunity earlier with a scissors- kick from inside the area to easily beat goalkeeper Manual Bartolo and make the score 2-0. Elford-Alliyu was unlucky to score another goal on the 64th minute when his shot from outside the area hit the crossbar. Balzan managed to reduce Valletta's lead on the 83rd minute. Lydon Mi- callef's low shot beat goalkeeper Yenz Cini to make the score 2-1. Valletta however would make sure they took all the points home when a brilliant shot by Edmond Agius left no chance for Manuel Bartolo.
