Events 42 maltatoday, Sunday, 15 June 2014 Hyundai with World Cup Limited Edition i20, i30 and ix35 models As a major sponsor of this year's World Cup in Brazil, Hyundai is al- so fielding its own winning team – a World Cup Limited Edition range of i20, i30 and ix35 models which come equipped with special edition fea- tures and equipment. These models come sealed with the official Brazil World Cup Hyundai sticker, making these models even more special and memorable. "The Hyundai i20, Hyundai i30 and Hyundai ix35 are not only award-winning models but are con- stantly getting very positive reviews. More importantly, these models are being endorsed by drivers them- selves who have bought these mod- els and are praising Hyundai's flair for technology, aesthetics, value and reliability," said Andy Portelli, Brand Manager for Hyundai Malta. "This is how Hyundai is now step- ping straight into the heart of the World Cup action where world class football meets world class models!" Portelli was speaking during the presentation of the winning ticket to the winner of the Hyundai World Cup competition hosted in May. The winner, Joseph Scerri who chose to travel to Brazil together with his son will be travelling to Brazil between the 12 and 15 June, to watch one of the most anticipated football matches, in which Italy will face England. All flights, accom- modation, transportation, food and beverages, tours, special events and basic safety have been paid for by Hyundai. The forthcoming match between Italy and England on the 14 June will be the 25th encounter between the two nations. The first match was played on the 13th of May 1933, a match which ended up with a result of 1-1. Out of the 24 matches played so far, Italy won 10 times, drew 6 times and lost 8 times. The competition was hosted by Hyundai around the world to re- ward people who test drive a Hy- undai car. "Unless a car is test-driven, people will never appreciate the real experi- ence that the car offers. We wanted to promote the rewarding experi- ence that one enjoys when driving a Hyundai car and this is why we enticed people to participate in this competition. "We know the big following that any Italy vs England football match enjoys in Malta and we took advan- tage of this to make the Hyundai experience even more rewarding," added Portelli. A research study conducted in the US in 2012, which surveyed 80,219 buyers of 2012 model-year vehicles, found that 11.4% didn't take a test drive. Overall, the study also found that about eight out of 10 buyers used the Internet to research their purchase before going to dealer- ship. "Test-driving a car is always a recommended experience for those who are seriously considering their next model. Every driving experi- ence, every perception of a car is personal. Therefore, no matter what reviews say, no amount of informa- tion on the internet can ever replace the experience of a test-drive and this is why we encourage customers to take a no-obligation test drive. "It costs nothing but it can be an enriching experience for those who need to take an important decision on which model they should pur- chase," concluded Portelli. A group of GasanMamo employees joined another 800 football teams that took up the challenge of playing football in the 10th edition of the 60 hour Puttinu Cares football mara- thon that was held between 6 and 8 June at the Marsa Sports Ground. To further raise money for the charitable organisation, other Gas- anMamo employees wholeheartedly gave a donation in a fund raising ac- tivity and dress down day. The funds raised by Puttinu, a to- tal of about €1.4 million will be used to pay for 12 apartments in Sutton, London which are currently being used to accommodate patients and their families who need to be taken to London for hospital care, partic- ularly at the Royal Marsden cancer hospital. Over 30 Maltese families cur- rently go for treatment in hospitals in the UK where they spend weeks, months and even years getting the treatment. "GasanMamo's commit- ment to the community is part of our core values," said Julian Mamo, Managing Director at GasanMamo. "As a team, we try our best to help charitable institutions such as Puttinu Cares to continue carrying out the sterling work they do for our community." EU report says Melita's internet fastest, most reliable A European Commission study on broadband internet in Europe based on real-life tests at customers' premises has once again confirmed Melita as the fastest internet service provider in Malta. According to this study, Melita customers benefit from an average download speed of over 26 Megabits per second while competing operators via ADSL (telephone line) get less than 12 Megabits per second. Melita customers have more than double the download speed than subscribers of oth- er operators. Similarly Melita's fibre-pow- ered internet beats other op- erators on reliability. In these real life tests Melita customers receive all the download speed they are subscribed to, while clients on ADSL get on aver- age, 15% less than the speed they are paying for. "Melita's score in this inde- pendent report are the result of continuous investment by the company into its broad- band infrastructure and qual- ity of service. We are commit- ted and determined to remain Malta's leading internet serv- ices provider by giving more speed and more quality to our customers. "Our focus is on giving cus- tomers great value for money and the report also confirms that Melita customers get the speeds they are promised, and more. Through the launch of melitaWIFI we are also en- suring that our clients get a seamless internet experience outdoors just like they do at home or office", said Ludolf Rasterhoff, Chief Operating Officer at Melita. The study based on hundreds of Maltese households is based on a methodology that uses hardware devices and provides the most accurate and inde- pendent results of Internet performance regardless of ac- cess to technology and home installation. This is the second measure- ment of a study on broadband performance by the European Commission that covers all EU Member States as well as Nor- way & Iceland, using the same approach. The project is being run by broadband performance test- ing specialist SamKnows, which has already conducted similar projects in the UK and the US. Melita is the leading broad- band internet provider in Malta and the only operator offering nationwide broad- band internet speeds up to 100 Megabits per second. It also operates a direct link to Milan connecting it to global inter- net backbones such as Level 3 Communications and Telia- Sonera International Carrier.
