Madrid said in a brief statement on their official website that president Florentino Perez had visited Di Stefano at the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Maranon, where he was taken on Saturday afternoon. Di Stefano is one of Madrid 's finest ever players. He was cen- tral to the club's domination of European football in the 1950s, helping them win the European Cup for five successive seasons. The Argentina-born forward played for the club from 1953 and 1964, winning eight Primera Di- vision titles. He is Madrid 's second highest scorer in history, behind Raul, with 307 goals in all competi- tions. He also had two short spells as coach of the club and is their honorary president. The Barcelona and Chile for- ward is hot property on the trans- fer market, but the imminent arrival of Luis Suarez should see him leave Camp Nou. It had been reported that Sanchez would be used as part of the €79m deal with Liverpool for Suarez, but today TV3 announced he had turned down any negotia- tions with the Anfield side. The race is now down to Juven- tus and Arsenal with the price-tag at around €30m. Alexis Sanchez is no stranger to Serie A, as he shot to fame at Udi- nese from 2008 to 2011, when sold to Barcelona for €26m plus €11m in various add-ons. It's reported Arsenal are ready to offer more money, but that Sanchez would prefer Juventus. Alexis Sanchez
