UNTIL SEPTEMBER 12 The Malta International Organ Festival e First Malta International Organ Festival will take place around vari- ous venues on the island. e open- ing concert will feature the highly acclaimed International Organist residing in Malta Wayne Marshall, on the newly restored organ of the St.Paul's Pro-Anglican Cathedral. Other famous organists, will be visiting from Italy, Sicily, Holland, Norway, Russia and Estonia. e entrance for the concerts will be free of charge. WHAT'S ON Religious feasts The feasts of St Catherine (Zurrieq), Our Lady of MT Carmel (Xlendi, Gozo), St Gregory (Sliema) and The Nativity of Our Lady (Mellieha, Senglea, Xaghra and Naxxar) will be celebrated today. Malta International Musical Bands Festival International festival of bands, majorettes group, marching band, folk groups, street bands and piper bands. Featuring three parades, of half day each, in most of the important towns on the island, together with the presence of the local authorities. The following group categories are eligible to participate: bands (marching, street, pipe and drum) folk groups, flag-throwing groups, groups of majorettes, and historical groups. Valletta International Visual Arts Festival International visual arts festival taking place at St James Cavalier, Valletta which will incorporate exhibitions and discussions on contemporary visual art and feature works and talks by both local and international performers. VIVA 2014 will feature work from locally and internationally reknown artists including Mieke Bal, Democracia, Austin Camilleri and JP Azzopardi amongst others. VIVA will also bring to the fore local young emerging artists through Divergent Thinkers - an exhibition which presents contemporary artistic practices by young Maltese artists that explore divergent thinking.
