maltatoday, SUNDAY, 19 OCTOBER 2014 55 Sport BOXING Boxing season set to end with a 'bang' THIS week local boxing promot- ers Demis and Doulton Tonna of- ficially launched Prize Boxing Pro- motions 'Rumble in the Med Part 8 #The Best Ever' which will take place at the Dolmen Hotel on 8 No- vember. Boxers Tyrone Borg, Richard Vel- la and Garth Galea will go into the event as major title contenders and they will be supported by an out- standing 10-bout undercard. Richard 'the Viper' Vella will box for the Prize Boxing Promotions International Championship title while Garth 'the Problem' Galea will box for the WBU International Championship Title. Crowd favourite Tyrone 'el Ter- rible' Borg will compete for the Malta Boxing Association National Professional Championship. Andrew Vella, Nico Sciberras, Mandy Cortis, Brandon Spiteri, Brandon Borg, Keith Azzpardi, Etienne Spiteri, Christian Schem- bri, Mike Carter, Josef Hazzouri and Mark Cutajar have been named as the domestic undercard, giving the public the second biggest fight card to date – a total of 13 competi- tive bouts. "Prize Boxing Promotions prom- ises a massive season finale," De- mis Tonna said, while his son and co-promoter Doulton Tonna noted that it is utterly important for Prize Boxing Promotions to end its cal- endar year with "a bang." Members of the newly elected executive Committee – Chief Ex- ecutive Officer Marc James, Gen- eral Secretary Leif Magnusson and Treasurer Claire Shephard of the Malta Boxing Association – were also in attendance. Despite his Hungarian opponent's taunts, National and International Light Heavyweight Champion Ty- rone 'el Terrible' Borg stirred away from controversy and kept his eye on the fight. Borg's opponent taunted the Mal- tese champion by posting a picture of himself holding a card stating "Tyrone Borg I am coming for you. On November 8th you will see your first defeat." Borg, who holds an impressive record of six professional wins all by way of a knockout said "I will not rise to it (the tauting). I will let him come to my country and take the fight as it comes on the day but I will do my job and he also will be stopped" PBP Rumble in the Med Part 8" #Prize Boxing Promotions #TBE will take place at the Dolmen Ho- tel & Spa, Bugibba on 8 Novem- ber. Tickets are priced at €30 (VIP Gold) for a ringside table or €20 (VIP Silver) for a ringside seat. Both Gold and Silver tickets come with their own bar while the gal- lery seating including own bar area is set at €20.
