Williams anticipated a tricky time in Monaco but neither Valtteri Bottas nor Felipe Massa came close to scoring points, with Bottas finishing in 14th, ahead of a lapped Massa, who was further compromised by contact at the start of the race. The squad's failure to collect a top 10 result ended its run of races in the points, which stretched back to the start of 2014. "It was quite a difficult weekend and we were nowhere near where we should be," admitted Smedley. "At Monaco, if qualif ying doesn't go well you have partly made your bed so we knew getting points was going to be tough. "It wasn't a great race for us but we can't dwell too much as we are out of position. We have to look at all areas to see what went wrong here with the inherent car performance and set-up. We cannot return here in 2016 and repeat this performance." Smedley is sure that Williams, which still occupies third place in the Constructors' Championship, will rebound at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. "We now have to focus firmly on the next three races," he said. "We have a really good package and some healthy upgrades coming soon so we look forward to coming back stronger in Canada."
