21 Sport maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 2 DECEMBER 2015 MOTORPSORTS Sport MOTORPSORTS ASMK Autocross Championship continues Sunday 'ASSOCJAZZJONI Sport Muturi u Karozzi' will continue with the 2015/2016 Autocross National Championships sponsored by ASMK & Pasta Poiatti. The pro- gram starts at noon. The race direction on track will be in an Anti- clockwise direction for all Autocross Modified and Stand- ard classes. Meanwhile a look at the Auto- cross classification after three race activities of the National Autocross Modified Class we see that the Opel Corsa driven by Philip Joe Vella leads the classifi- cation with 82 points. Christian Mark Galea on his Fiat Ritmo follows with 67 points. Christian Apap on Ford Fiesta ranks third with 64 points. In the Autocross Class A championship Vella also domi- nates this class so far with 24 points and is followed by Chris- tian Galea with 19 points. In third place we find the Opel Corsa driven by Malcolm Borg with 10 points. In the Autocross Class B we find Jonathan Camilleri on his Opel Corsa leading this classifi- cation with 20 points. Camilleri is followed by Noel Zammit with 11 points on his Fiat Punto while in third place we find Jonath- an Vella on Ford Fiesta with 9 points. In the Autocross Standard Class Deane Farrugia leads this classification on his Citroen AX with three wins and a total of 37 points so far. Deane is followed by Traydon Bailey with 21 points on his Ford Ka while new comer to this sport is Ian Fenech on a Citroen AX with 16 points. Meanwhile, on Sunday 29th November ASMK organused the second Trials event of the National Championship. This event was held in the disused hard rock cutting quarry at Ix- 'Xagħra tal-Maghlaq' in the lim- its of Qrendi. This non-speed competition started at 9: 00am with competitors divided into two classes. Class A for experi- enced riders and Class B for nov- ices and beginners to this sport. Class A was again dominated by cousins Bonello Damon and Rowen. Damon expertly rides obstacles on a Gas Gas while Damon is confident on his Beta Trials motorbike. For most of the sections Da- mon and Rowed were riding in parallel with regards to the pen- alty points until Rowen gained some penalty points in Sections No. 2 and No. 5. Damon won this class comfort- ably with 16 penalty points in 7 sections followed by Rowen with 27 penalty points. Third place was won by young Gary Debono on a Sherco motorcycle while fourth place was won by Joseph Scicluna riding a Gas Gas. Class B was won by Manuel Camilleri on a Gas Gas motor- cycle followed by Ian Scicluna on a Beta. The Association opened ap- plications for the 2015 Demoli- tion Derby hoping that enough applications will be received for this race which is expected to take place on Sunday 20th De- cember 2015. Any interested competitors who would like to participate in this event are in- vited to attend an informative meeting to be held at the ASMK Clubhouse at Mtarfa on Thurs- day 10th December 2015 at 8.00pm.
