Speaking on BBC Radio Two's Jeremy Vine programme on Mon- day, Fury refused to back down on his claims that the world would end once homosexuality, abortion and paedophilia were legalised. Former champion Haye returns to the ring after a three-and-a-half year absence in January when he faces Australian fighter Mark de Mori in London, and is hoping to move into the frame for a shot at Fury. Haye told the Guardian: "I thought I was the controversial bad guy, but Fury has got to stop saying that. "Come on man - just shut up. It's stupid and wrong and it's giving boxing another negative headline. Stop it. Just stick to singing after the fight - that's good." Almost 80,000 people have signed a petition calling on the BBC to remove Fury from its 12- strong shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. Fury had previously said that fel- low nominee and world heptath- lon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill "looks good in a dress" and added: "I know for a million per cent I've got more personality in the end of my little finger than the whole of the nomination group put to- gether." Fury attempted to clarify his comments to Vine, insisting he did not equate homosexuality to paedophilia, but repeating the controversial views he originally made in a pre-fight interview with Mail on Sunday. Fury told Vine: "Homosexuality, abortion and paedophilia - those three things need to be accom- plished before the world finishes - that's what the Bible tells me. "It may take a while before those three things can be accomplished, but make no mistake, those three things must be accomplished be- fore the world finishes, if it takes 1,000 years, 10,000 years or two days - those three things need to be accomplished. "That isn't my opinion, I didn't say that, that's what the Bible tells me, and that's all I said. I didn't say I had a problem with homosexu- als or abortionists or paedophiles, I didn't say I'm with it or against it, I just stated what I am taught through my scriptures." David Haye
