22 maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 24 FEBRUARY 2016 Sport MOTORSPORTS ASMK honoured the 2015 champions ON Saturday 20th February 2016 'Assocjazzjoni Sport Mu- turi u Karozzi' organized the an- nual special ceremony to honour the champions of the 2014/2015 'ASMK-Pasta Poiatti' National Championships. This activity was held at St. Klara College in Pembroke with the support of the Parliamentary Secretariat for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Sport Malta, General Soft Drinks Marketing Ltd, Delicata Winemaker and Pasta Poiatti. During this event for all the ASMK members, sponsors and friends of the Association has rec- ognized a number of honours and the champions of the 2014/2015. In the Car category of the National Autocross Championship ASMK honoured Class A Champion Christian Mark Galea driving on a Fiat Ritmo and his Runner-Up Philip Joe Vella on an Opel Nova. In the Autocross Class B National Championship ASMK honoured Champion Martin Godwin and his Runner-Up Jonathan Camilleri both on an Opel Corsa. In the Standard Autocross Na- tional Championship Class the champion is Deane Farrugia on a Citroen AX with Runner-Up Sav- iour Micallef on his Volkswagen Polo. The Gozo Autocross Na- tional Championship was won by Domnic Zammit on an Alfa Sud and Joseph Agius is the Runner- Up on his Ford Fiesta. In the Motocross Category of the National Championship Class A the Champion is Clayton Camilleri on KTM and his Run- ner-Up is Edward Ciantar on his Kawasaki. The ASMK National Motocross Championship B is won by Champion Ludvic Muscat on a KTM while his Runner-Up is Adam Sultana from Gozo on a Ka- wasaki bike. The Enduro National Champi- onship winner is James Zahra on a Yamaha with Runner-Up Mat- thew Gauci on a KTM. The Trials National Championship Class A winner is Damon Bonello on Gas Gas and his Runner-Up is Robert Caruana on his Gas Gas. The Tri- als National Championship Class B Champion is Joseph Scicluna on Gas Gas and his Runner-Up is Ma- nuel Camilleri on Beta. During this evening's celebra- tions the President of the ASMK Association announced three new Honorary Members. One is former Treasurer of ASMK Edgar Xuereb who left office after 20 years service. Francis Joseph Azz- opardi whose service in ASMK goes back to the past 31 years as Chief Marshal is still in service on race days. During the years he occupied posts in the ASMK Ex- ecutive Committee too. Emanuel Pisani for several long years served as Chief Flag Marshal during all Autocross events and is still serv- ing in this sector to date. Present- ly, ASMK has honoured Founder President together with 5 other Honorary Members in this list. The ASMK 2015 Champions and the Runner-Up of all catego- ries and classes were presented with special trophies by the Par- liamentary Secretary for Sports Hon. Chris Agius and by Hon. Da- vid Agius - Opposition spokesman for Sport and were cheered by all present. Meanwhile on Sunday 28th February the Association is to continue with the ASMK Pasta POIATTI 2015/2016 Champion- ships. All the Autocross cars will be racing their seventh (7) rac- ing activity while the Motocross riders will be racing their fourth (4) activity of the Championship. The event starts at 11: 00am at the ASMK Sports Complex in Ta 'Qali while the Practice sessions will be held on Saturday after- noon up till 5.00pm and entrance is for free.
