Entrance is at €5, €8 with CD. JULY 9 Xtreme Metal Assault Heavy metal music festival at Corradino Old Military Prison, Paola from 16:00. Featuring: 12th Ode, 26 other worlds, A Broken Design, Abysmal Torment, Animamortua (ex-Relicuia), Angelcrypt, Ascendor, Blind Saviour, Bound to Prevail, Fallen Icon, Khaospath (SWE), Kill 'Em All (session band), Ktinodia, Loathe and Thy legion. JULY 15-17 Bay Stage powered by Trackage Scheme at the Sliema Arts Festival The main stage called the Bay Area – powered by Trackage Scheme will showcase an eclectic selection of artists including bands, DJs/ producers and solo musicians at Independence Gardens, Sliema from 19:00. Featuring: Stalko, Falcon's Flying Circus, Pyramid Suns, Lucy's Last, CRUX, Jack's Fusion, Sequenchill, Frankie Calleja, Robert Farrugia, Stimulus Timbre, Chris Tanti, Fabricka and KNTRL. JULY 21-23 Malta Jazz Festival The 26th edition of the Malta Jazz Festival – taking place at Ta' Liesse, Valletta from 20:00 – intends to create a vibrant jazz atmosphere all around Valletta. The events of Thursday night have been shifted from Ta' Liesse to Valletta centre with free concerts featuring headliners. The festival also strives to reach out to wider and younger audiences. The programme for this summer is highly eclectic and will feature a diversity of styles. The festival, like previous years, will include some of the most significant bands and musicians in the music sector such as Mike Stern/Bill Evans band, Snarky Puppy and Omer Avital. JULY 27-31 Malta International Music Competition 2016 Taking place at Mdina Local Council at 07:00, MIMC assists emerging pianists, violinists, guitarists, composers and chamber music ensembles in their artistic development, encourages them to pursue careers and to provide a forum for their talents. Young musicians of any nation invited to participate. EXHIBITIONS UNTIL JULY 3 Materia: Ritus MATERIA is a project conceived by artist, Adrian Abela, and is part of the 'CHARTI' project, held in collaboration with Valletta 2018, where the main aim is to reinterpret traditional elements of the Maltese festa, giving them relevance within the contemporary international setting. Taking place at Spazju Kreattiv (St James Cavalier), Valletta. JULY 15-17 Sliema Arts Festival Festival of street art and music across the Sliema promenade. Featuring international and local artists, an array of music genres, street art, graffiti, art exhibitions, still art paintings, chalk art, street dancers and live performances. THEATRE & PERFORMANCE FROM JUNE 29 Rock of Ages: Opening Night Opening night of the Maltese version of the popular Broadway musical at City Theatre, Valletta at 20:00. Featuring: Kurt Calleja, Errol Sammut, Nadia Vella, Taryn Mamo Cefai, Chris Dingli, Katherine Brown, Colin Fitz, Rachel Fabri, Rach Tedesco Triccas and many more. More information: http:// www.rockofagesmalta.com/. AUGUST 23-25 Kelma Kelma Nota Nota Three concerts combining Maltese music and literature at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta at 21:00. The first concert – Tlaqna Nghabbu – will be taking place between June 21 and 23; the second – Kuncert Bla Vat – between June 26 and 28 and Ghal Kbar Biss between August 23 and 25. Featuring Daniel Cauchi and the Big Band Brothers, Ray Calleja and Michael Spagnol. JULY 25 Puppet Show with Sean Briffa An interactive show for kids where the audience doesn't just participate but also helps shape the story by Sean Briffa at Eden Super Bowl, St Julian's at 16:00.
