22 maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 20 JULY 2016 Sport FORMULA 1 WRESTLING Williams brings new floor to Hungary WILLIAMS will introduce a new floor at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, as the team looks to fend off Force India in the champi- onship standings. Williams, in fourth, is now just 19 points ahead of Force India, having failed to score in Britain last time out as its rival logged another double top 10 finish. Pat Symonds, the outfit's technical chief, is optimistic that the updated FW38 will be able to deliver a strong result at the resurfaced Hungaror- ing circuit. "Although the Hungaroring is a lower speed circuit than we have visited recently, it is a still a circuit where our car can perform well," said Symonds. "Valtteri [Bottas] was running fifth last year before a collision dropped him out of the points. "We are bringing a new floor to this race as part of our continued development. "But the real focus will be on the expected high temperatures and the completely resurfaced track which will be very demanding on the tyres. "We'd expect to see a mixture of two- and three-stop strategies in the race, with final decisions resting on the exact nature of the new asphalt." Williams logged double points finishes at the first five rounds of the season, but has added only one more since, at the European Grand Prix. Dozens of wrestlers sue WWE over neurological injuries WORLD Wrestling Entertainment Inc (W WE.N) was sued on Monday by Jimmy "Superf ly" Snuka and doz- ens of other retired male and female wrestlers seeking to hold it respon- sible for neurological injuries they claimed to suffer by participating in its bouts. The complaint was filed on behalf of more than 50 plaintiffs who have per- formed with W WE or its predeces- sors since the 1970s, including Joseph "Road Warrior Animal" Laurinaitis and Paul "Mr. Wonderful" Orndorff. It accused Stamford, Connecticut- based W WE and Chairman Vince McMahon of intentionally classif y- ing wrestlers as "independent con- tractors" rather than employees, as a means to avoid liability under appli- cable worker protection laws. "W WE placed corporate gain over its wrestlers' health, safety, and fi- nancial security, choosing to leave the plaintiffs severely injured and with no recourse to treat their dam- aged minds and bodies," the com- plaint said. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages, as well as im- proved medical monitoring. W WE, in a statement, called the lawsuit another attempt to hold it li- able by a law yer who had two earlier lawsuits dismissed and added that "we're confident this lawsuit will suf- fer the same fate". W WE has won the dismissal of some claims in other lawsuits accus- ing it of hiding the risks of head trau- ma from wrestling. The National Football League and National Hockey League have also been sued by retired players over head injuries. Monday's complaint was filed with the federal court in New Haven, Con- necticut. The plaintiffs accused W WE of concealing the risks of the degenera- tive brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy and other traumatic brain injuries attributable to wres- tling, including through "scripted" moves it choreographed. Konstantine Kyros, a law yer for the plaintiffs, in an email said W WE's "exploitative business model" kept his clients from learning their rights un- der laws such as the federal Occupa- tional Safety and Health Act. According to the complaint, Lauri- naitis, 55; Snuka, 72; and Orndorff, 66, suffer from cognitive difficulties including headaches, dizziness and memory loss, while Snuka and Orn- dorff also experience confusion, de- pression and mood swings. The plaintiffs also include former referees and identical twins Earl and Dave Hebner, 66, who according the complaint have experienced cogni- tive difficulties. Dave Hebner has also been diagnosed with Parkinson's dis- ease, the complaint said. The case is Laurinaitis et al v.
