The lovely couple opted for Harley-Davidson bikes as a symbol of the American influence their cel- ebration will be based around. During their wedding last Wednesday 7th of September, the couple served a wide range of cul- turally diverse food. But their love of different cultures, in particular the American one, was brought out in more creative ways. Beloved Maltese chef Neil Darmanin, a man with a passion for motorbikes, and his wife Leanne Sciberras came to the con- clusion that given that the Harley- Davidson® brand is iconically Amer- ican, it would perfectly represent the theme of their wedding. Masquerade presents Evan Placey's 'Girls like that' With their production of Evan Placey's Girls Like That, Masquer- ade presents an urgent and dynam- ic play that challenges audiences of all ages in dealing with feminism, sexuality and cyber bullying. Directed by Polly March, a cast of 18 girls come together in this com- pelling story that is sure to resonate amongst both younger and older generations. The hints of sarcasm in Placey's script contrast with the striking re- ality of the social conventions that have been faced by girls for years, and those they may continue to face for years to come. The intimate setting of M Space's Blue Box-in- the-round theatre offers audiences a chance to further engage with the play, while Polly March's direc- tion allows the cast to explore their characters' identity faced with their own vulnerabilities and anxieties. Girls Like That is a play about girls, boys, feminism, friendship, running with the pack, self-image and online sharing. When a naked picture of Scarlett gets sent around the school in a matter of minutes, the fall out reveals the underlying social dynamic as her peer group reacts to what's happened. As her previously close friends suddenly distance themselves from Scarlett, we see their own vulnerabilities and anxieties about self-image and sexuality exposed. Girls Like That shows on 23, 24, 30 September and 1-2 October at 8pm at the Blux Box, M Space in Msida.
