Romeo and Juliet fall passionately in love, but their families are sworn enemies. The lovers marry in secret before Romeo kills Juliet's cousin Tybalt in a fight and is banished from the city. Juliet's family arrange for her to marry Paris. To escape, Juliet takes a potion that makes her appear lifeless. Romeo does not receive the message explaining her plan; thinking her dead, he goes to her tomb and kills himself. She wakes, sees Romeo's corpse and stabs herself. Visual artists Teresa Sciberras, Maxine Attard, Aaron Bezzina and Matthew Attard present works ranging from sculptures to installations alongside a viertual reality game developed by Sandro Spina in collaboration with exhibition curator Glen Calleja. Doors open at 09:00am. Runs until October 16. MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE OCTOBER 14-15 Statix Festival 2016 A two-day music festival with three stages, incorporating genres of techno, house, electronica and psy. Over 40 local artists performing, including, 4Ace, A-Call, A-Mag, Acidulant, Bass Culture, Belli, Bjan Jansen, Brian James, Carl Lautier, Cloned, Darren, Dtraum, Duo Blank, Fabricka, FDM Crew, Fullster, Interconnekted, James Ferrando, Jaunn, Jon- roy, Jupiter Jax, Kerg, Louie G, Mato, Migz, Moodshifter, Muke, ND, No Symmetree, Owen Offset, Rickett, Rod Minus, Sequenchill, Serial Depth, Silvan, Sonitus Eco, Supre, Stimulus Timbre, Twitch, Urban Kaos Crew, U-Jack and Wayne Richard. Tickets at €10. NOVEMBER 26-27 Amor Alegria Academia de Baile Flamenco presents its bi-annual production entitled 'Amor'., based on the Maltese legend 'L-gharusa tal-Mosta'. Special guest artist Renzo Spiteri will participate on percussion. The production will showcase a variety of Flamenco rhythms together with a few Maltese traditional songs including a local folk singer. This event will be making a contribution towards Cancer Research through RIDT. Apply online through w w w.mipf.eu or email: info@eufsc.eu, or phone on 77727222 THEATRE SEPTEMBER 14 - OCTOBER 23 Il-Giddieb Ghomru Qasir/The Lying Kind Bilingual production of Anthony Nielson's play by Unifaun Theatre at Sir Temi Zammit Hall, University of Malta. The Maltese production will feature Chrysander Agius Daniel Chircop, Snits, Michael Tabone, Julie Pomorski, Magda van Kuilenburg and Marylu Coppini and will be staged between October 7 and 9. The English version will feature Edward Mercieca, Alan Paris, Antony Edridge, Magda van Kuilenburg, Polly March, Michaela Fenech and Thomas Camilleri. The play is directed by Chris Gatt. Bookings: w w w. ticketline.com.mt. NOVEMBER 2 Anastasia Live ballet at Eden Cinemas on Wednesday 2nd November at 8:15pm. Kenneth MacMillan's full-length ballet is a compelling exploration of identity in the turbulent wake of the Russian revolution. Anastasia is a ballet about one of the great historical mysteries of the 20th century, only recently solved. At the height of the Russian Revolution the royal family were executed, but afterwards a young woman appeared – apparently a surviving royal princess, the Grand Duchess Anastasia. Tickets at €18 for adults and €10 for under 16. Complimentary glass of wine and parking at the Eden Leisure Car park offered. EXHIBITIONS STARTING SEPTEMBER 30 Lokali Exhibition focusing on Maltese contemporary art and the featured artists will include Andrew Diacono, Noel Attard, Victor Agius, Antoine Farrugia, Maria Galea, Tony Briffa, Emmanuel Caruana, Gabriel Caruana, Mark Mallia, Stiefnu, Saviour Baldachino, Alan Pace and the Muscat Trio. The exhibition will also include Live Guitar and vocals by Ben Purple. Open until 27 November. Doors open at 20:30. OCTOBER 9 Genna ta' Gonna – 2016 All gardens, museums, historical buildings and other places of interest in Floriana open to the public, with some guided tours. Old manuscripts and mummified bodies of priests under the Cappuccin convents, the bell tower of St. Pubius Parish Church will be available for viewing. FILM SCREENING OCTOBER 9 Odyssey A six-minute animated short film, consists of around 6,500 photographs which simulate the life of an adventure-seeking anthropomorphic turtle.
