maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 18 JANUARY 2017 17 Events Husqvarna motorcycles officially in Malta THE new year has brought with it even more exciting news from Fapi Motors, the company which for the last few years has been the official distributor of the KTM and Harley-Davidson brands. On Friday 6 January, a special launch at Fapi Motors showroom saw the dealership announcing the introduction of yet another renowned brand to their collec- tion; Husqvarna Motorcycles, also known as Huskies. With the 701 Supermoto and TE 300 mod- els on display, Fapi Motors paved the path towards introducing the Husqvarna models and accesso- ries in Malta. Husqvarna Motorcycles brand dates back to the end of the 19th century. In 1896, the company, which had already specialised in weaponry, sewing machines and kitchen accessories, introduced the first bicycles. By 1903, these bicycles were transformed into motorbikes and they quickly established a strong presence in the market. In 1955, the Silverpilen model introduced Husqvarna motor- cycles to the world of motocross with a lot of success. In fact, by 1960, Rolf Tibblin u Bill Nilsson had already won worldwide com- petitions thanks to Husqvarna models. Fapi Motors are now the of- ficial distributors of Husqvarna motor cycles and accessories in Malta. Visit our showroom at Mdina Road, Attard or send an e-mail to info@FapiMotors.com for further details. Approval for the rehabilitation of the Farsons old Brewhouse THE Board of the Planning Au- thority unanimously approved a permit for the rehabilitation of the Farsons old Brewhouse in Mriehel. The rehabilitation project covers the restoration and conversion of approximately 7,000 square me- tres of industrial space which will include a Visitor Centre Experi- ence with supporting food and beverage and other retail outlets, flexible workspace and additional amenities. The project is envisaged to com- mence in mid-2017 and is expected to be completed within two years with an investment of around €10 million. The lead designer firm of the project is Ian Ritchie Archi- tects Ltd of London assisted by TBA Periti as the local architects and structural engineers and sup- ported by a multidisciplinary team of local and foreign specialists. The driving design philosophy has been to sensitively restore and convert the Grade 2 listed build- ing. The high aesthetic quality of the external envelope of the build- ing will be preserved, including the internal spaces containing brewing machinery and equip- ment of special industrial herit- age interest, which will provide a unique and thematic backdrop throughout the space. Light will be brought into the central areas via new roof lights and of particular interest, are the existing brewery 'coppers', which will form a cen- terpiece to the Visitor Centre Ex- perience. Upon the granting of the permit, lead designer Ian Ritchie stated that the project represents an im- portant milestone in the history of the brewery, while also present- ing a unique 'game changing' per- spective for industrial heritage in Malta.
