maltatoday, SUNDAY, 22 JANUARY 2017 39 This Week Applications open for Notte Bianca 2017 NOTTE Bianca, Arts Coun- cil Malta and the Valletta 2018 Foundation can announce the participation of Spain-based theatre group La Fura dels Baus as part of this year's festival. The world-renowned theatrical group will be organising a performance workshop in Valletta, which will be held from the September 23 leading up to Notte Bianca on October 7. The collaboration was spear- headed by the Artistic director of Notte Bianca Valletta, Sean Buhagiar. "La Fura have been critically acclaimed as one of the finest post-war exponents of theatre and live performance. This, along with their yearning to continually remain relevant, make me thrilled to have them in our programme," Buhagiar said. Founded in Barcelona in 1979, La Fura dels Baus have garnered a reputation for their brand of the- atre, which makes use of unusual settings and blurs the boundaries between audience and actor. The La Fura dels Baus Malta workshop is aimed at actors, dancers, acrobats, light techni- cians, riggers, video artists, mu- sicians, visual artists, set design- ers, engineers, and all others who share a love for stage work. Interested participants will need to send a CV to workshop@ nottebianca.org.mt by February 13. The participation fee for the workshop is of €100. Full-Time Performing Arts Students can attend the workshop for free. La Fura Dels Baus and Notte Bianca Valletta will choose the success- ful applicants based on their ar- tistic CV. But nature is like a large jigsaw puzzle in which every piece is essential, irrespective of size, shape or colour. The warblers are a large group of small, relatively drab-coloured birds (the European species at least), about 40 species of which have been recorded in Malta. Some of these are common, year-round resident and breeding, others are heart-stopping rarities. Until a decade or so ago, the yellow-browed warbler (M: vjolin tal-faxx) was considered rare, but this neat, minuscule (even by warbler standards) grey-green bird with the bold eye-stripe has gradually begun to feature every year on birdwatcher logs. And we certainly are not complaining about it. GREEN IDEA OF THE WEEK 444: DON'T RINSE: Skip rinsing dishes before using your dishwasher and save up to 20 gallons of water each load. Plus, you're saving time and the energy used to heat the additional water. Visit Friends of the Earth's website for more information about our work, as well as for information about how to join us. To create a climate-safe, just and sustainable world it is crucial that we completely transform the way we produce, distribute and consume energy. Friends of the Earth International believes that the transformation of the energy system is connected to the transformation of economic structures and the need to dismantle corporate power, which underpins the exploitative global economy. Friends of the Earth International believes that the energy transformation process will be and must be complex. It involves not just changing the energy source from fossil fuels to renewable energy, but a deeper transformation including democratic ownership of renewable energy resources. This is a call to work together on new and innovative ways to address the crises threatening our planet and its people. There is an urgent need to stop tax havens in order to create a climate-safe future, while establishing that a 100% renewable energy revolution is financially well within reach. The finance to bring about an Energy Revolution exists. We must demand it. Founded in Barcelona in 1979, La Fura dels Baus have garnered a reputation for their brand of theatre Tax havens and financing climate action (continued) 541. YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER
