15 WHAT'S ON WHAT'S ON TODAY Consume An exhibition tracing Victor Agius's ongoing research and preoccupation on the way matter is taken and shaped by man from nature and modelled to suit his daily rituals. The ensemble of objects and interventions will include video works, objects, sculptural installations and diverse forms of documentation of a recent public artwork in Malta. Taking place at St James Cavalier at 7:30. EXHIBITIONS UNTIL JUNE 23 Art to Ware For the second year running the Gabriel Caruana Foundation is pleased to participate in Buongiorno Ceramica! The Gabriel Caruana Foundation is organising the exhibition entitled 'Art to Ware' and a pop-up shop at the Mill - Art, Culture and Crafts Centre in Birkirkara, Malta. 'Art to Ware', curated by Umberto Buttigieg, will focus on contemporary art and design ware including ceramics, photography, wood, perspex and acrylic. Participants include Tessie Borg, Umberto Buttigieg, Gabriel Caruana, Demetra Kallitsi, Sue Mifsud, Andrea Pullicino, Enrique' Tabone (Que), Audrey Torrero, Maureen Vella and Raffaella Zammit. Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays from 17:00 to 19:00; Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00. UNTIL JUNE 24 From a Distance: Gulja Holland Exhibition of paintings by Gulja Holland inspired by environmental issues, exhibited at Lily Agius Gallery, Sliema. JUNE 9-AUGUST 10 A Tranquil Star Collective exhibition of international artists at the newly-reopened Malta Contemporary Art, 12, Felix Street, Valletta. Featuring the work of Anthea Hamilton (UK), 2017 Venice Biennale artist Salvatore Arancio (Italy) as well as Basim Magdy (Egypt), Haris Epaminonda (Cyprus) and Nicholas Byrne (UK). UNTIL JUNE 10 SOMNA Photography exhibition which accompanied a dance performance at the Malta Postal Museum, Archbishop Street, Valletta. Photographer Zvezdan Reljić collaborates with dancers Eszter Joó, Francesca Zammit, Julia Camilleri – who gave a performance in conjunction with the exhibition on May 19. Repeat performance of the dance show will be taking place at the venue on June 8 at 20:00. UNTIL JUNE 11 Consume Exhibition by Victor Agius at the Spaces C1-C4 at Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta. Consume speaks about how through time, human intervention and displacement; matter, objects and quotidian artefacts experience transformation. There will be an artist's talk at the venue on May 20 at 19:30. Curated by Irene Biolchini. The project is also part of the VIVA 2017 programme. JUNE 23-AUGUST 30 Correspondences Collective exhibition at the newly-reopened Malta Contemporary Art, 12, Felix Street, Valletta. Featuring: Amarante Abramovici, Covadonga Barreiro, Tânia Dinis, Sérgio Leitão and João Vasco Paiva. Curated by Eduarda Neves. Opening hours are 10:00 to 18:00, from Tuesday to Saturday. JUNE 10 Diaspora Dance performance by Contact Dance Company, at MITP Theatre, St Christopher Street, Valletta at 18:00. With choreography by Francesca Abela Tranter and music by Renzo Spiteri. In collaboration with the Arts Council Malta and the Maltese council presidency of the EU 2017. This performance will also be presented at the Michael Cacoyannis Theatre in Athens Greece on June 13 to celebrate the Malta- EU Council Presidency in conjunction with export Malta cultural projects. FESTIVAL UNTIL JULY 10 Victoria International Arts Festival For the 20th edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival, a series of 37 concerts, together with exhibitions, master classes, and specialised talks will be presented in Victoria, Gozo. This is a five-week period of uninterrupted musical and cultural activity that is attracting tourists and music-lovers who visit Gozo specifically for the Festival. As for the past 9 years, the opening and closing concerts of the Festival will see the participation of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Prof. Joseph Vella, Artistic Director of the Festival. PUBLIC LECTURE JUNE 8 Women and freemasonry Public lecture by Yasha Beresiner at Le Meridien, St Julian's Hotel and Spa at 18:30. The lecture will focus on how men and women of all religions, trades and ages, have been meeting for over three centuries under the remit of the Freemasons, who trace their origins to the operative working stone masons of medieval times. Beresiner is a NADFAS lecturer since 2010 and the author of many books on various aspects of collectibles related to freemasonry.
