15 WHAT'S ON WHAT'S ON TODAY In Guardia Parade Historical re-enactment at Fort St Elmo Place, Valletta at 11:00. The re-enactment portrays the inspection of the fort and its garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John in charge of military affairs. During the re-enactment, of the fort's garrison - some 50 re-enactors in all, kitted-out in their uniforms perform their military drill to demonstrate to the Grand Bailiff its state of readiness. Payment at the door. Voiceless Carmen A performance of an innovative opera Carmen. The Strada Stretta concept 'Voiceless Carmen', under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci. Carmen is the arena of death and the musical instruments must fight till death. The Gabriel Caruana Foundation is organising the exhibition entitled 'Art to Ware' and a pop-up shop at the Mill - Art, Culture and Crafts Centre in Birkirkara, Malta. 'Art to Ware', curated by Umberto Buttigieg, will focus on contemporary art and design ware including ceramics, photography, wood, perspex and acrylic. Participants include Tessie Borg, Umberto Buttigieg, Gabriel Caruana, Demetra Kallitsi, Sue Mifsud, Andrea Pullicino, Enrique' Tabone (Que), Audrey Torrero, Maureen Vella and Raffaella Zammit. UNTIL JULY 10 Victoria International Arts Festival For the 20th edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival, a series of 37 concerts, together with exhibitions, master classes, and specialised talks will be presented in Victoria, Gozo. This is a five-week period of uninterrupted musical and cultural activity that is attracting tourists and music-lovers who visit Gozo specifically for the Festival. As for the past nine years, the opening and closing concerts of the Festival will see the participation of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Prof. Joseph Vella, Artistic Director of the Festival. FILMS UNTIL JUNE 25 Valletta Film Festival Third edition of the Valletta Film Festival – featuring a selection of brand new and critically acclaimed films screened in various venues around Valletta, along with related Q&A sessions and workshops. Free screenings are also held at Pjazza San Gorg, Valletta, while masterclasses, conferences, and debates provide a platform through which participants can discuss film and contemporary affairs over the course of the festival's programme.
