maltatoday, SUNDAY, 13 AUGUST 2017 This Week 33 WHAT'S ON LITERATURE AUGUST 24, 25, 26 Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival 2017 The 12Ith edition of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival organiSed by Inizjamed at Fort St Elmo, in Valletta, at 8.00pm. Twelve writers from eight countries are reading in the festival, which also features Maltese and foreign poetry films, Maltese jazz bands, a book stall, a book binding stand, drinks and food. Entrance to all events is free. The authors participating are Asja Bakić (Bosnia Herzegovina), Mourid Barghouti (Palestine), Lilia Ben Romdhane (Tunisia), Jean Portante (Luxembourg), Zoë Skoulding (Wales), Ma Thida (Myanmar), Arvis Viguls (Latvia), Gjoko Zdraveski (Republic of Macedonia), and John Aquilina, Mark Camilleri, Immanuel Mifsud, and Alfred Sant from Malta. THEATRE AUGUST 16 Comedy on the Corner A comedy show including also an open mic night. Taking place at Casey's Bar, Gzira at 8pm. UNTIL SEPTEMBER 7 How to Be Maltese in An Hour - The Comedy Show A comedy show written, directed and produced by The Comedy Island that is set to teach v isitors about traits of the Ma ltese. Saudi Hawks for Malta International Airshow The Malta Aviation Society proudly announces that the Saudi Hawks, from the Royal Saudi Air Force, will be partici- pating in the 25th edition of the Malta International Airshow being held between the 23rd and the 24th of September 2017. The Saudi Hawks display team will be showing off their skills during the aerial display of the Airshow, while the general public will have the unique op- portunity to meet the pilots at the Airshow Grounds in Luqa. This will be the first time that this team will be participating in the local Airshow. Painted in an eye catching green and white livery inspired by the Saudi national f lag, the team was established in 1998 and is based at King Faisal Air Base in Tabuk city. The team f lies with specially modified BAE Hawk Mk65 air- craft fitted with smoke genera- tors. During the show, the team will show off its most iconic ma- noeuvre known as The Logo, for which they hold the Guinness World Record for the largest sky drawing for their logo. Dur- ing this complex manoeuvre, all aircraft will paint the nations national emblem in the sky, a palm tree with crossed swords representing prosperity and jus- tice. Following The Turkish Stars and the Swiss PC-7 Team, The Saudi Hawks are the third aero- batic team to be confirmed for the 25th edition of Malta In- ternational Airshow which will feature over 40 different air- craft participating in the static and f lying display. The participation list so far fea- tures 7 countries. The general public is being invited to visit the Air Show grounds in Luqa where children and aviation enthusiasts can watch the various aircraft from a close distance, actually enter in some, and meet pilots, engi- neers and crew. Entrance fee will be that of €10, while children and teens up till 14 years of age enter for free when accompanied by a paying adult. In the afternoon the aerial dis- play will be held in front of Smart City in Xgħajra, free of charge. The Malta International Air- show's official hashtag is #MAS25.
