PAUL COCKS THE last fixed-point police se- curity at the home of murdered blogger and journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was terminated on 3 October, 2010, MaltaToday has learned. A spokesperson for Home Af- fairs minister Michael Farrugia said that since that date, fixed- point security at the journalist's home had been provided for a couple of days after the 2013 and 2017 elections, as was standard police practice in the case of a number of high-profile individu- als. Caruana Galizia died in a car bomb attack outside her home in Bidnija on Mon- day. In two separate occasions, people gathered outside public institutions in Valletta to demand justice for the jour- nalist's death as anger intertwined with grief. A vigil was also held in Brussels to commemorate the slain journalist. In the evening, people gathered for a candlelight vigil outside Auberge de Castille, the Prime Minister's office, as Parliament met to hear the Opposition leader react to the Budget speech. Earlier in the day, a sizeable crowd had gathered in front of the law courts where family friend and lawyer Andrew Borg Cardona urged everyone to stand up for the rule of law. In Parliament, Nationalist Party lead- er Adrian Delia referred to the murder, insisting this was not a normal country. Meanwhile, investigators continued combing the area in Bidnija where the car bomb exploded, in a bid to find clues that could help them piece together the journalist's last moments.
