42 Events maltatoday SUNDAY 31 DECEMBER 2017 THOMAS Smith Group pre- sented the funds raised, €8,000, during the 19th edition of the annual Christmas Charity Swim, to President Marie-Lou- ise Coleiro Preca on 21 Decem- ber at San Anton Palace. €5,700 was collected from the public, while Thomas Smith topped up and rounded up the amount to €8000. During the cheque presenta- tion, the President, on behalf of Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, thanked Thomas Smith Group for yet again organising the annual Charity Swim and commended the Company for contributing towards the final amount of the €8,000 donated. Ever since its inception, the Group together with the swimmers' dona- tions have collected just over €110,000. "The Thomas Smith Char- ity Swim is now an annual ap- pointment on the calendar of events of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, and continues to attract a number of swimmers, expressing their solidarity and altruism," said Joe Gerada, Managing Director at Thomas Smith Group. "We look forward to the 20th edition to be held in 2018, on Sunday 30 December." Gerada together with Liana Cachia, Group Marketing & HR Manager, were this year accompanied by Luke Hyzler (representing Thomas Smith swimmers), Diandra Axisa (representing Thomas Smith volunteers), Mark Zammit and Janet Tanti (represent- ing volunteers from the Civil Protection Department and Malta Red Cross respec- tively). The 2017 Thomas Smith Charity Swim was supported by the Sliema Local Coun- cil, Civil Protection Department, Malta Red Cross, Malta Police Force, Drinks n' More, X-Zone, H2Only, Għaqda Dilet- tanti Sajd Sliema, Vertex Vending Services, Deejay Arthur Garrett, WAVA, HIVE, Karl Borg Events, Giorgio's, Cara's, Clyde Dol- ceria, Venscic Ltd, as well as many other supporters. Thomas Smith Group presents €8,000 raised in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation HSBC Malta's first Toy Drive brings holiday cheer to children in need DOZENS of toys were collected after HSBC Malta joined a Group- wide toy drive to bring the undeni- able power of playtime to children from less fortunate backgrounds. From the latest gadgets to stuffed characters, toys of all shapes and sizes were donated by HSBC em- ployees and customers, many of whom brought their contributions to the HSBC branches. The toys were donated to the Foundation for Social Welfare Services and the Angel Tree Club. This was the first time HSBC Malta joined this Group initiative. Last year, a total of 18,166 toys were collected and distributed in 18 participating countries in the HSBC network. The campaign ran from 27th November to 12th December. HSBC Malta employees and customers demonstrated great support by donating new toys Dhalia holds annual children's Christmas party DHALIA staff and negotiators brought their children to share in the festive fun at their annual Christmas celebration, held at Pop- eye Village on the 16th December. The children enjoyed looking around Santa's workshop and had their faces painted by Santa's elves, before sitting down for a meal.
