maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 16 MAY 2018 14 TELEVISION FEATURE Hbieb u Ghedewwa marks epic 700th episode THE popular soap opera Hbieb u Ghedewwa will be airing its 700th epi- sode tomorrow, marking an epic mile- stone in the life of the production. e series is currently in its fourth season, al- ready in itself uncharted territory for any Maltese production, proving that it has become an integral part of many people's daily routine. Rewind Productions, the producers of the soap opera, have decided to mark tomorrow's occasion in style and are organising a big and colourful feast to thank the cast, crew, fans and media for their undying support. Ħbieb u Għedewwa was conceived and plotted as a classical soap, intended to be aired primarily in the early afternoon. e cast's and producers' daily mission remains – to this day – to lighten up the lives of their viewers through the light, and believable plot and characterisation. The series moves at a leisurely pace, allowing viewers to bond and identify with the fictitious members of the fami- lies portrayed, while following their daily tribulations, successes, pains and joys. Friendship, love, suspicion and gossip are easily identifiable. Viewers can therefore find parallels in their own life and are able to easily form attachments to the various characters. It is no surprise that the characters, like the soap opera itself, have gathered a loyal following, as the plot develops at a pace akin to real life. Many viewers have grown to accept the characters as though real, following their development and daily lives with zeal. The soap opera delivers intrigue, love, suspense, passion, jealousy, friendship and hatred … all coming together in a well-packaged production that keeps viewers vying for more. And all, while creating moments of en- tertainment, education and possibly dis- traction from daily chores. Hbieb u Ghedewwa is aired on TVM. On 1 May, the entire cast and crew of Hbieb U Ghedewwa (90 people in all!) met to celebrate the 700th episode by participating in a photo shoot that turned out to be a colourful one, in more ways than one
