Curated by Sab- rina Calleja Jackson, the exhibi- tion illustrates a nostalgic walk through the current evidence of our country's development. It narrates the ethics projected onto sentimental spaces and memories based on these val- ues and meanings. MAY 25-26 Fejn Sparixxiet Strada Stretta The Strada Stretta Concept, under the auspices of the Val- letta 2018 Foundation presents 'Fejn Sparixxiet Strada Stretta' Magic Festival at Strada Stret- ta, under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Schembri Bo- naci. The event will consist of stand-up performances, roam- ing close-up performers, and a taste of magic in Strait Street. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE MAY 31 – JUNE 3 Earth Garden Earth Garden is a non-main- stream music festival in the stunning Ta' Qali National Park on the island of Malta, bring- ing together a lineup that spans across world, ska, dub, reggae and electronic music. Nestled within the enchanted wood- land of the national park, Earth Garden is all about community, great music, green awareness, healing, creativity and inspira- tion. JUNE 6 Inmates #018 - l l l Blond:ish l l l Night of electronic music at Gianpula Village, limits of Ra- bat from 22:00. Blond:ish is a Canadian producer/DJ duo formed by Anstascia D'Elene Corniere and Vivie-ann Ba- kos. They started their career when they met in Montreal in 2008. JUNE 29 Eyes to Argus + Goldstein Night of progressive and doom metal music at Rumours, Pieta. Performing bands in- clude Eyes to Argus and Gold- stein. Doors open at 21:00. En- trance is at €5. THEATRE & DANCE 25- 27 MAY El Tango Bringing together the sen- sual tango with contempo- rary dance, El Tango is Moveo Dance Company's latest pro- duction at Teatru Manoel. EL Tango combines the sensual- ity of tango with the rawness and fluidity that contemporary dance offers to portray the of- fers of temptation and love. All the music will be performed live by a group of talented mu- sicians. More information can be found on www.teatruma- noel.com.mt. 25- 27 MAY Jean, Where Memories Live Jean, Where Memories Live is a one-hour promenade per- formance where the audience follow Jean, her memories and the man who did not love her. The audience will actually walk around and follow the actors at Esplora Interactive Science Centre in Kalkara. Entrance is at €22 and includes a glass of prosecco and canapés. 25 – 27 MAY Joan Drachma LGBTI will be bringing to Malta the drag- king performance of 'JOAN'. A truly unique international show comes to Spazju Kreattiv this May. Joan is an award-win- ning play that tells Joan of Arc's earthy story of courage, con- viction and hope. Performed by British drag king champion Lucy Jane Parkinson, history's greatest gender-warrior takes to the stage, dragging up as the men she defies in this smash- hit show. Packed with guts, heart (and some well-placed couscous), JOAN is a fusion of lyrical new writing and cabaret. Tickets are between €12 and €15. FILM SCREENING MAY 22 Two Trumpets for St Andrew/ Luqa Screening presented by So- lar Cinema Malta of the docu- mentary Two Trumpets For St. Andrew (1968) at Iz-Zuntier tad-Dokkiena, Luqa at 20:30. Two Trumpets For St Andrew is an Australian documentary film that follows the rivalry between two band clubs in the village of Luqa in 1968. John Calleja and Anthony Theuma are the two main protagonists. We are introduced to their way of life and to their passion for their respective band clubs. Both men take us to their place of work - the military air base and the Malta dry Docks. Shot while the British occupation was ending and Malta's inde- pendence was at its inception, this film offers a rare view of how Maltese village life was at the time. The film also features interviews with Archbishop Gonzi, Gorg Borg Olivier and Dom Mintoff. The screening is free. 3-7 JUNE National Theatre: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Encores) Tennessee Williams' twenti- eth century masterpiece 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof ' played a strictly limited season in Lon- don's West End in 2017 and will be sceened at Spazju Krea- tiv on the 3rd and 7th of June. A southern family gather at their cotton plantation to cel- ebrate Big Daddy's birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. With the future of the family at stake, which ver- sion of the truth is real – and which will win out? Tickets are €10. VILLAGE EVENTS MAY 26- JUNE 2 Malta Fashion Week The Malta Fashion Week is back for its 20th anniversary. Taking place all throughout Malta, the week event will feature fashion shows, bridal shows, fashion awards, and so much more celebrating Malta's fashion industry. Tickets vary depending on shows and while some shows are free of charge, others are paid events. JUNE 7 Qamar il-Ghasel Cultural event hosted by the Hal Safi Local Council with the support of Malta Arts Council, taking place from 10:00 until 19:00. Visitors will be able to walk through the Sir Alexan- der Ball Garden during the day, and at the main parish square, one will have the opportunity to visit several stalls which will be offering various prod- ucts which are produced from pure honey and its subsidies. Lectures and activities for chil- dren will also be included in the Drachma LGBTI will be bringing to Malta the drag-king performance of 'JOAN' this weekend.
