MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE MAY 31 – JUNE 3 Earth Garden Earth Garden is a non-main- stream music festival in the stunning Ta' Qali National Park on the island of Malta, bringing together a line-up that spans across world, ska, dub, reggae and electronic music. Nestled within the en- chanted woodland of the na- tional park, Earth Garden is all about community, great mu- sic, green awareness, healing, creativity and inspiration. FILM SCREENING 3-7 JUNE National Theatre: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Encores) Tennessee Williams' twen- tieth century masterpiece 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' which played a strictly limited season in London's West End in 2017, will be sceened at Spazzju Krea- tiv on the 3rd and 7th of June. A southern family gather at their cotton plantation to cel- ebrate Big Daddy's birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. VILLAGE EVENTS JUNE 7 Qamar il-Ghasel Cultural event hosted by the Hal Safi Local Council with the support of Malta Arts Council, taking place from 10:00 until 19:00. Visitors will be able to walk through the Sir Alexander Ball Garden during the day, and at the main parish square one will have the op- portunity to visit several stalls which will be offering various products that are produced from pure honey and its sub- sidies. Lectures and activities for children will also be in- cluded in the event. FASHION MAY 26- JUNE 2 Malta Fashion Week The Malta Fashion Week is back for its 20th anniversary. Taking place all throughout Malta, the week event will feature fashion shows, bridal shows, fashion awards, and so much more, celebrating Mal- ta's fashion industry. Tickets vary, depending on shows, and while some show are free of charge, others are paid events. RE-ENACTMENT JUNE 3-24 In Guardia Military Parade The In Guardia parade will be held at Fort St Angelo today, on 3rd June, 17 June and 24 June. Another re-enactment will be held at this fort on Sun- day 21 October. The parade will take place at the Parade Ground in the centre of Fort St Angelo. The parade takes around 50 minutes and com- mences at 11am. Tickets, both for the fort and the parade, are available from all Herit- age Malta museums and sites for €15 adults, €12 seniors and students, and €7 children. Fort St Angelo opens from 9am till 6pm, last admission at 5.30pm. TODAY El Tango Bringing together the sensual tango with contemporar y dance, El Tango is Moveo Dance Company's latest production at Teatru Manoel. El Tango combines the sensualit y of tango with the rawness and fluidit y that contemporar y dance of fers to por tray the of fers of temptation and love. Jean, Where Memories Live Jean, Where Memories Live is a one-hour promenade per formance where the audience follow Jean, her memories and the man who did not love her. The audience will actually walk around and follow the actors at Esplora Interactive Science Centre in Kalkara. Entrance is at €22 and includes a glass of prosecco and canapés. Joan Drachma LGBTI will be bringing to Malta the drag-king per formance of 'JOAN'. A truly unique international show comes to Spazju Kreat tiv this May. Joan is an award-winning play that tells Joan of Arc's ear thy stor y of courage, conviction and hope. Per formed by British drag king champion Lucy Jane Parkinson, histor y's greatest gender-warrior takes to the stage, dragging up as the men she defies in this smash-hit show. Packed with guts, hear t (and some well-placed couscous), JOAN is a fusion of lyrical new writing and cabaret. Tickets are bet ween €12 and €15. Van Gogh: of wheat fields and clouded skies A new look at Van Gogh, through the legacy of the largest private collector of ar t works by the Dutch painter: Helene Kröller-Müller (1869-1939), who, in the early 20th Centur y, ended up buying nearly 300 of his works, paintings and drawings included. The movie will be showing at Eden Cinema on Sunday at 11:50, 16:00, 20:15. Tickets are bet ween €4.80 and €7.90. Potato and Agrarian Festival 2018 The Potato and Agrarian Festival is being held today in Qrendi, Malta's potato har vest capital. Now in its seventh year, the festival is popular among tourists and locals alike, of fering visitors the oppor tunit y to re-discover the rural aspect of the Maltese Islands. A wonder ful event for the whole family which will enable visitors to savour potato-based traditional gourmet dishes, as well as the ever popular potato cinnamon ice-cream and potato cock tail.
