In some of her works, she expresses an ambiguous or sa- tirical take on consumer capi- talism and popular culture. Col- ourful, funny and sometimes spine-chilling pop art - that is Jana Frost's unique style in a few words. The exhibition is being held at Café Society, Valletta. MAY 31 – JUNE 16 Vincent Kraft / Street / Photography Exhibition Vincent Kraft's exhibition of street photography will be held at Palazzo De La Salle in Val- letta. Capturing striking and compelling instants from 12 countries, STREET explores a raw transcription of society that pervades both human in- teractions and physical spaces. Through the shocking juxtapo- sition of images, this exhibition is a thought-provoking journey in contemporary concerns. UNTIL JULY 1 Dal-Bahar Madwarha The major visual arts exhibi- tion of Valletta 2018 – com- memorating the capital city's adoption of the European Capital of Culture title in 2018. Curated by Maren Richter, the exhibition will be taking place across various venues. These include the Pixkerija, the Ex- aminations Centre and the Underground Cistern, all in Valletta. Featuring Gogol Bor- dello and Brodu on 30 July, Julian Marley and The Upsid- ers, as well as ManaTapu on 18 August, Dark Tranquility, Ever- grey, and Colourblind on 24 Au- gust, and Kaiser Chiefs and Bila on 30 August. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE MAY 31 – JUNE 3 Earth Garden Earth Garden is a non-main- stream music festival in the stunning Ta' Qali National Park on the island of Malta, bringing together a line-up that spans across world, ska, dub, reggae and electronic music. Nestled within the enchanted wood- land of the national park, Earth Garden is all about community, great music, green awareness, healing, creativity and inspira- tion. JUNE 6 Inmates #018 - l l l Blond:ish l l l Night of electronic music at Gianpula Village, limits of Ra- bat from 22:00. Blond:ish is a Canadian producer/DJ duo formed by Anstascia D'Elene Corniere and Vivie-ann Bakos. They started their career when they met in Montreal in 2008. Doors open at 20:00. Entrance is at €5. JUNE 16 House Of Doom presents: Candlemass – Live in Malta Legendary doom metal band Candlemass will be performing at Aria Complex, San Gwann. JUNE 29 Eyes to Argus + Goldstein Night of progressive and doom metal music at Rumours, Pieta. Performing bands include Eyes to Argus and Goldstein. Doors open at 21:00. Entrance is at €5. FILM SCREENING 3-7 JUNE National Theatre: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Encores) Tennessee Williams' twenti- eth century masterpiece 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' which played a strictly limited season in Lon- don's West End in 2017 will be sceened at Spazju Kreativ on the 3rd and 7th of June. A southern family gather at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Dad- dy's birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Mag- gie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. With the future of the family at stake, which version of the truth is real – and which will win out? Tick- ets are €10. JUNE 8 - 17 Valletta Film Festival The Valletta Film festival will feature various festival screen- ings, masterclasses, talks and discussions, as well as short films. Prices and information can be found on https://www. vallettafilmfestival.com/pro- gramme/ VILLAGE EVENTS JUNE 7 Qamar il-Ghasel Cultural event hosted by the Hal Safi Local Council with the support of Malta Arts Council, taking place from 10:00 until 19:00. Visitors will be able to walk through the Sir Alexander Ball Garden during the day, and at the main parish square, one will have the opportunity to visit several stalls which will be offering various products which are produced from pure honey and its subsidies. Lectures and activities for children will also be included in the event. FASHION UP TO JUNE 2 Malta Fashion Week The Malta Fashion Week is back for it's 20th anniversary. Taking place all throughout Malta, the week-long event will feature fashion shows, bridal shows, fashion awards, and so much more celebrating Malta's fashion industry. Tickets vary depending on shows and while some shows are free of charge, others are paid events. RE-ENACTMENT JUNE 3-24 In Guardia Military Parade The In Guardia parade will be held at Fort St Angelo this Sun- day, on 3rd June, 17 June and 24 June. Another re-enactment will be held at this fort on Sun- day 21 October. The parade will take place at the Parade Ground in the centre of Fort St Angelo. The parade takes around 50 minutes and commences at 11am. Tickets, both for the fort and the parade, are available from all Heritage Malta muse- ums and sites for €15 adults, €12 seniors and students, and €7 children.
