maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 23 JANUARY 2019 20 AUTOCROSS SPORTS ON Sunday 27 January ASMK will be organising another event of the National Autocross Championship 2018/2019 sponsored by Pasta Poiatti. This fourth event will start at 10am and is to take place at the ASMK Sports Complex in Ta' Qali. In the Modified class, Terence Azzopardi on his Opel Corsa is leading the rankings for the first time. He currently has 69 points and is followed by the Opel Corsa of Melo Zammit with 61 points. The rating continues to show that the Opel Corsa of Jo- seph Micallef is placed 3rd over- all with 59 points and Ryan Sci- cluna on a Ford Fiesta follows with 58 points. In the Standard Class Melvin Buttigieg is at the top of the chart driving his red Citroen AX and he has won 18 points so far. Kyle Agius on his Opel Nova follows in 2nd place with 12 points. The list further dem- onstrates that the Opel Nova of Johann Vella from Gozo is placed 3rd overall with 11 points and Jeremy Peplow on his Kia Avella and Quinn Camilleri on a Citroen Saxo have won 9 points each. Meanwhile on Sunday 20th January 2019, the Association organised the second meeting of the National Enduro Woto- Moto National Championship 2018/2019. This event was held in a Quarry in Fawwara, limits of Siggiewi, and the Association would like to publicly thank Barbro Group Ltd for giving the Association the permit to use this locality for this type of motorcycle Off-road sports. The day was characterised by the overnight and early Sunday morning rain showers which left the ground in a wet con- dition and with an amount of pools in several areas along the pre-planned and built race course. This resulted in more difficult riding conditions for the riders to manoeuvre their motorcycles in such conditions. This situation made each rider waste more energy than usual to finally arrive at the destina- tion to stop the lap recording clock. For this event 15 com- petitors were divided into three classes and a new 4th class was introduced for the first time for Under 15 years junior racers. This Class and Class 3 for Nov- ices are very promising. The overall event result chart confirms Bernard Sammut on a Beta 350cc bike sponsored by WotoMoto as he continued to dominate this Enduro event with remarkable riding on dif- ficult wet ground. Sammut ex- celled in the qualifying Heats and in the two Timed Heats of the day where he always im- proved on his timed Laps thus sealing his second win of this 2018/2019 Enduro champi- onship with a Final time of 9 minutes 0.908 seconds. Sam- mut was followed in 2nd place by Ian Scicluna on a KTM mo- torcycle with timed Laps of 9 minutes 55.019 seconds. Third place finisher was Matthew Gauci on his Beta who regis- tered his best Lap in 9 minutes 55.411 seconds. The Results for Class B shows that Krist Falzon on a Husqvar- na motorcycle won this class with his best time of 10 min- utes 21.886 seconds followed by Gabriel Muscat on KTM motorcycle with a time of 10 minutes 24.642 seconds. Third place finisher is Aidan Camill- eri on a KTM motorcycle with 10 minutes 33.182 seconds. Results from Class C show that Kyle Stone on a KTM mo- torcycle won this class with a total time of 12 minutes 15.177 seconds. Stone was followed by Kurt Muscat on a Yamaha motorcycle with his timed Laps of 12 minutes 33.998 seconds while third place winner was Mario Gatt on a Honda motor- cycle with time Laps of 18 min- utes 10.827 seconds. The Results of this first Jun- iors' class is Julian Scicluna on an Oset electric motorcycle who won his class in 13 min- utes 40.557 seconds. Julian was followed in second place by Antoine Muscat on a KTM motorcycle with a time of 17 minutes 35.693 seconds.
