Colonial Encounters – Editor: Prof John Chircop This volume brings together international and Maltese scholars, offering a line-up of innovative contributions to some of the most current – and demanding – social, economic, and cultural debates on colonialism and colonial rule. The seventeen chapters presented here take as their focus the multiple Maltese experiences of British domin- ion from the 19th century to post-colonial times, employing a diversifi ed range of research methods and sources to investigate key research themes in the growing literature on colonial studies. Most adopt a critical approach to, and at times propose a challenging reassessment of Malta's historiography of the period. The outcome is a fresh critical-historical outlook that articulates ambivalent, intriguingly contrasting, and often multi-faceted 'local' experi- ences of British colonialism, the decolonisation process and their post-colonial implications. Our Planet – Alistair Fothergill and Keith Scholey This striking photographic companion to the groundbreaking NETFLIX original documentary series, from the direc- tors that brought us the original Planet Earth and Blue Planet, takes us on a journey across the globe's different biological realms to present stunning visuals of nature's most intriguing animals in action, and environmental change on a scale that must be seen to be believed. Featuring some of the world's rarest creatures and previously unseen parts of the Earth – from deep oceans to remote forests to ice caps – Our Planet takes nature-lovers deep into the science of our natural world. The Confessions of Frannie Langton – Sara Collins 1826, and all of London is in a frenzy. Crowds gather at the gates of the Old Bailey to watch as Frannie Langton, maid to Mr and Mrs Benham, goes on trial for their murder. The testimonies against her are damning – slave, whore, seductress. And they may be the truth. But they are not the whole truth. For the fi rst time Frannie must tell her story. It begins with a girl learning to read on a plantation in Jamaica, and it ends in a grand house in London, where a beautiful woman waits to be freed.
