Since then, as Maltese music evolved, the simple yet magical concept of the annual event stayed the same; five acts of diverse musical genres within one concert in a stunning thea- tre. This year marks the 22nd edition of Teatru Unplugged, which will be held in the iconic Teatru Manoel in Valletta on three different nights between Friday 29 November and Sun- day 1 December 2019. For more infor- moation visit https://www.face- book.com/teatru.unplugged/ Festivals UNTIL 24 NOVEMBER ZiguZajg Festival The 9th edition of ŻiguŻajg Festival returns with a fan- tastic line-up of no less than twenty-one projects and nine creative forms! The selection has a nice balance of new Mal- tese works together with some of the best touring shows, in- cluding five commissions by foremost local artists, five co-productions with national public cultural organisations, and no less than eleven inter- national projects from around the globe. The 2019 Festival pro- gramme initiatives vary from a brand new promenade mu- sic theatre show which will also tour schools, to a dar- ing contemporary circus act, award-winning films, an op- era with loads of humour, a re-adaptation of an iconic literature classic, and a num- ber of outdoor happenings. This year's edition, featuring a strong environmental mes- sage for young and old, prom- ises to enchant children as well as those young at heart. Theatre 28 NOVEMBER A surprising collection of historic Malta maps Joseph Schiro, Honorary Secretary of the Malta Map Society, researcher and col- lector of maps will unveil Olof Gollcher's ensemble of antique and unusual maps of Malta and Valletta from the period of the Knights of the Order of St John up to the 20th century. Refreshments will be served to toast the Society's 10th anni- versary. Pre-booking is essential. Knock Knock describes what it's like to be a parent in the shadow of armed conflict. The play follows the journey of Il- ana, a single mother whose job as an Israeli Officer of Casualty Notifications is to knock on the door of families whose sons or daughters have been lost in war. Her conflict between mother- hood and her duty as a citizen reaches a deafening climax when her only son chooses to serve on the front-line. Played entirely by Niv Petel, this im- mersive physical mono-drama cuts through the thick curtain of politics to tell a story about parenthood, friendship, love and sacrifice. The performance is set to take place over two nights; the 16 and 17 Novem- ber from 8pm at Teatru Salesjan in Sliema. Other 22 NOVEMBER Brushing Time An accidental find which took place in May 2017 at the site of Għar Dalam in Birżebbuġa led to further studies in order to understand better this intrigu- ing prehistoric site. On Friday, 22nd November, Heritage Mal- ta is inviting the public to learn more about these finds and to assist the curators in the clean- ing and documentation of some of the palaeontological and ar- chaeological finds from this ex- ercise. Tickets are priced at €20. Tickets are available from Her- itage Malta museums and sites, and online. The event starts at 7pm and ends at 11pm. The Funds raised from the sale will go towards Verdala Boosters and the school. UNTIL 30 NOVEMBER Intaglio exhibition This year's edition titled 'Grafika: Of Form and Image' is curated by Christian At- tard, and presents a selection of 70 intaglio prints, including works by two very important figures in the medium: Frank Portelli and Horst Janssen. Por- telli, from Malta, is well known for his Cubist-like images, his deep spirituality, and his heart- felt melancholy that permeates most of his images.
