Using rare and detailed historical maps along with high-tech imaging, they investigate some of the world's most enduring mysteries. An English ship filled with stolen treasures long-rumoured to be hidden under the sands of the California desert. A lost gold mine in the mountains of Arizona, said to contain over 200 million dollars' worth of pure gold. And, the mysterious death of famous explorer Meriwether Lewis that some say was an assassination. MONDAY Hunter vs Hunted [Documentary] 8:25pm on National Geographic Wild (Channel 422) We think we're the ultimate predators but increasingly wild animals are hunting us, and the reasons they attack people are often surprising. The series investigates selective animal attacks on humans, employing the latest in forensic technology and scientific discovery to decon- struct and analyze some of the most startling incidents. TUESDAY The UnExplained S2: "Dark Prophecies" [Documentary] 10pm on History (Channel 412) 'The UnXplained' explores the world's most fascinating, strange and inexplicable mysteries. Hosted by Golden Globe; Emmy Award-winning actor William Shatner (Star Trek) each episode will feature compelling contribu- tions from scientists, historians, witnesses and experiencers — each seeking to shed light on how the seemingly impossible actually can happen. In this episode: Modern prophets. Cata- strophic premonitions. Dreams of future crimes. Can people really predict the future? And if so, can we harness this knowledge to avoid deadly events waiting in the days to come? WEDNESDAY Beer (1985) [Film] 9:35pm on AMC HD (Channel 336) Desperate to come up with a new campaign for Norbecker Beer, jaded advertising executive B.D. Tucker struggles to find an angle that pleases the company. When a trio of ordinary citizens manages to stop a bar from being robbed, the three distinctly unglamorous guys – Elliott Morri- son, Merle Draggett and Frankie Falcone – get roped into being the new faces of Norbecker, but the ad campaign is far from flawless. THURSDAY Dracula 2000 (2000) [Film] 7pm on E! Entertainment (Channel 306) Long ago, Abraham Van Helsing (Christopher Plummer) im- prisoned the infamous Count Dracula (Gerard Butler) within a vault inside Carfax Abbey. In the present day, Van Helsing relies on Dracula's immortal blood to remain alive. But then thieves breaks into the vault and steal the vampire's coffin, thinking it contains something valuable. Liberated from his prison, Dracula seizes the opportunity to escape, but Van Helsing sets out to banish him to the crypt once again. FRIDAY Mom S5 Ep.11: "Bert and Ernie and a Blessing of People" [Comedy Series] 9:30pm on Melita More (Channel 315) Christy travels to Santa Cruz to sur- prise Patrick and tell him that she wants to start a real relationship, but their attempts to be physical together fall flat. Meanwhile, Bonnie and Adam attend a wedding together, which starts an argument over what they want for their own wedding. SATURDAY 1989: The Year That Made The Modern World [Documentary] 9:10pm National Geographic (Channel 406) No other year in recent history has played a more pivotal role in shaping the present than 1989. 30 years later, we look at the iconic events that defined this year and continue to dominate public conversation from fundamentalism and race to gender equality and the influence of the internet. The end of the Cold War... the disman- tling of Apartheid, the launch of the World Wide Web? and the premiere of The Simpsons. If just one of these took place in 1989, it would be considered a water- shed year. But these were just the beginning. What to watch this week Streaming picks Your guide to the best shows on streaming platforms Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich Netflix ef frey Epstein: Filthy Rich is an American television miniseries about convicted sex of fender Jef frey Epstein. The miniseries is based on the 2016 book of the same name by James Pat terson, and co-writ ten by John Connolly and Tim Malloy. Filthy Rich was released in May. The four-par t documentar y features inter views with several sur vivors including Virginia Giuf fre and Maria Farmer, along with former staf f members and former police chief Michael Reiter, a key individual from the first criminal case against Epstein. Knives Out Amazon Prime The circumstances surrounding the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey are mysterious, but there's one thing that renowned Detective Benoit Blanc knows for sure -- everyone in the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a suspect. Now, Blanc must sift through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth. Knives Out is a 2019 American mystery film written and directed by Rian Johnson, and produced by Johnson and Ram Bergman. A modern whodunit, the film follows a family gathering gone awry, after the patriarch's death leads a master detective to investigate.
