respondents than among PL voters (13.2%). A profile of non- voters The survey sug- gests that non-vot- ers are more in sync with PN voters regarding concern about the demo- graphic pressures facing the coun- try. Moreover, they are more likely to mention corruption as a top issue than Labour voters, but less so com- pared to PN voters. In fact, concern about overpopula- tion peaks at 30.4% among non-vot- ers, followed by concern about traf- fic (18.2%), inflation (10.9%), foreign workers (10.8%), corruption (8.7%), construction (4.8%), low income (2.4%) and the environment (2.1%). Surprisingly, both PN and PL vot- ers expressed greater concern about overdevelopment and the environ- ment than non-voters. Non-voters al- so registered a slightly lower level of concern about inflation than both PL and PN voters. Traffic is top concern for young voters The survey shows higher concern about traffic (24%) and overdevel- opment (10%) among those aged be- tween 16 and 35. In fact, concern about traffic emerg- es as the top concern of this age group, while that about construction ranks fourth. Concern about overpopulation is still high (21.6%) but lower than among 36- to 50-year-olds, where it peaks at 29.9%. Concern about over- population is lowest among those aged over 65 years (16.9%). In an indication that the elderly are still feeling hard-pressed by rising prices, inflation emerges as the top concern among those over 65 years old (22.3%). The survey also suggests that men (26.3%) are more likely to consider overpopulation as a top problem than mt SURVEY maltatoday | SUNDAY • 12 OCTOBER 2025 9 THE ALL-NEW B10 STARTING FROM €20,900* (*2025 GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND SCRAPPAGE SCHEME INCLUDED. On a representative sample of 741 respondents. The sampling approach followed a stratified random design, ensuring proportional representation across key demographic variables such as age, gender, and locality. At a 95% confidence level, the overall survey results carry a margin of error of ±3.6%. It is important to note that while the overall sample provides robust national-level estimates, the margin of error increases when results are disaggregated into smaller strata or sub-groups (for example, by age bracket, region, or voting intention). This occurs because smaller sample sizes within each subgroup carry higher statistical variability. Therefore, findings at sub-group level should be interpreted with caution and viewed as indicative trends rather than precise estimates. All data collection adhered to professional survey standards, with strict quality control applied at each stage to minimise potential sources of bias, including questionnaire design, fieldwork supervision, and data processing.
