Nature Notebook Erbgħin Sena Għall-Ambjent: Tifkira tal-Ewwel Protesta On 23rd November 1985, a group of youths under the name of Żgħażagħ Għall-Ambjent (youths for the environment), and from there onwards the journey of Friends of the Earth Malta started. To celebrate this milestone and commemorate their first protest, FoEM is organising an event at their Green Resource Centre on Sunday, 23rd November. This will be a chance to celebrate 40 years of environmental action and It will be an opportunity to learn more about the history of Friends of the Earth Malta and their journey thus far. Foods and drinks will be served in a relaxed setting, where memories and stories can be shared. This event will also be FoEM's Annual Gathering, where they will present their work for the past year. Become a BirdLife member Kuragg 2025 - A Concert inspired by Real-Life Stories Date: 9 November Location: Teatru Salesjan, Triq Guze' Howard, Sliema, Malta Get ready for a special night of music with Kuragg – a concert that shines a light on the uplifting side of life's toughest challenges. Organised by The Malta Community Chest Fund, Kuragg brings audiences on a journey of resilience, sharing the real stories of patients who, despite facing adversity, have found joy, strength, and hope along the way. Each song performed during the show has been personally selected by the patients themselves – whether dedicated to someone special, inspired by a moment in life, or a reminder of courage in difficult times. It's a musical tribute to the strength of the human spirit and the healing power of music. At the heart of the show are the Big Band Brothers, led by Daniel Cauchi as Music Director, delivering energy, soul, and a rich soundscape that binds the show together. Valletta Resounds: The Caravaggio Experience Date: From 12 November into December Location: St. John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta, Malta Held at the Oratory inside the historic St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta Resounds elegantly strings together Caravaggio masterpiece with theatrical storytelling and timeless classical music. Critically acclaimed Maltese musicians under the musical direction of Jacob Portelli are at the helm of the site-specific performance, bringing to life the works of Baroque Masters such as Handel and Bach along with the sound of sacred Maltese music by composer Francesco Azzopardi and more. Sung to perfection by some of Malta's most esteemed sopranos, Dorothy Bezzina and Dorothy Baldacchino, the music is beautifully brought to life on Baroque Harp, Baroque Violin, Baroque Cello and on the Psaltery. This auditory delight is woven harmoniously with tales of the Oratory narrated by the ever-charming and regal character of Fra Bartolomeo performed by Jeremy Grech. The 40-minute performance starts at 18:30 with exclusive access to the Cathedral at 18:00 and can be accessed from main door in St John Street. Performed live by an exceptional trio of violin, double bass, and piano, this concert transforms iconic film music into an elegant chamber journey. From La La Land to Interstellar, from The Godfather to Amélie — in the intimate setting of Teatru Salesjan. The War of the Worlds Date: 23 November Location: Teatru Aurora, Triq ir- Repubblika, Victoria, Gozo Teatru tal-Opra Aurora is pleased to host, for yet another year, the Gozo Youth Orchestra, who, in collaboration with 7SPP is presenting the Malta Premiere of Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds – The New Generation on Saturday 22nd November 2025 at 7.30p.m. and an additional show on Sunday 23rd November 2025 at 6.30p.m. The Gozo Youth Orchestra will be under the direction of its founder/ musical director Mro Joseph Grech with the participation of Clara Sciberras, Neville Refalo, Klinsmann Coleiro, Chris Grech and Francesco Nicodeme. Artistic Direction is entrusted to Dorothy Bezzina. This iconic progressive rock musical will see the participation of some of the islands' foremost talent. Billed as the most challenging production for the organisers, the production will be further augmented with electronic and acoustic music, video presentation by Liam Neeson, lighting effects and amazing special effects. No effort is being spared to ensure that it will indeed be a night to remember. Gambori Date: 28, 29 November Location: St. Vincent De Paul Residence, Marsa, Malta Đambori, not a typical festival, but a joyful celebration of emancipation for individuals aged 60 and over. In an era that is strongly associated with tranquility and reflection, we want Đambori to emerge as a strong pioneer, reimagining the 60+ life stage with an emphasis on the culture of active aging and animated participation through the performing arts. As George Bernard Shaw so wisely said: "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."; this saying resonates deeply with the philosophy of Jambori. Valletta Resounds: The Caravaggio Experience will be on from 12 November and into December at St. John's Co-Catherdral 995. Is-simar nature reserve IS-SIMAR nature reserve in Xemxija was the second site BirdLife became involved in, way back in the early 1990s. It happened when we heard of plans to turn the area into a sort of "recreational" area with dinosaur models, etc! The site was largely a plantation of tam- arisk and eucalyptus, with a sewage-infested ditch cutting across. With government support, the idea was to boost biodiversity by turning the area into a network of habitats, namely a permanent brackish lake, islands, reedbeds, embankments and pools connect- ed by canals. And a lot of tree-planting. Thirty-odd years later, Is-Si- mar has matured nicely, with new nesting birds clearly certifying the transformation a success.
