THE former Downtown Hotel
has been selected as the site
for Gozo's new law courts af-
ter the government signed a
promise of sale to acquire the
property and develop a mod-
ern courthouse. The purchase
represents a major move to-
ward replacing the island's
outdated judicial facilities
with a contemporary complex
designed to meet current le-
gal and community demands.
The site was chosen following
a public market consultation
launched in November 2022.
Eleven proposals were assessed
according to criteria including
location, accessibility, size, le-
gal status, safety standards,
redevelopment potential and
value for money.

gramme.
