11 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 21 NOVEMBER 2025 CULTURE New exhibition for the Christmas season at Il-Hagar between Earth, Light & Silence by Victor Agius IN the next temporary exhi- bition at Il-Ħaġar Museum, Gozitan artist Victor Agius ex- plores the theme of the Nativity as a liminal threshold. Twenty years after his exhibition Na- tivitas, he returns to this sacred theme, inviting viewers to dwell and contemplate the Mystery of the Incarnation, where matter meets spirit and silence receives light. In this exhibition, Agius's sculptures and mixed media paintings will enter into dialogue with important Nativity-themed works by masters from different epochs, such as Stefano Erardi, Anton Inglott, Emvin Cremona, Mario Caffaro Rore, Harry Al- den, and Caesar Attard. Paint- ings by these masters have been exceptionally loaned to Il-Ħaġar Museum by a number of public and private institutions for the duration of this exhibition. The official inauguration of the exhibition will be held on Sunday 23 November 2025 at 11:45. Everyone is invited to at- tend. The exhibition then runs until 11 January 2026 and may be viewed during Il-Ħaġar Mu- seum's opening hours of 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Sunday (ex- cluding Christmas Day and New Year's Day). Admission is, as al- ways, free. Born in 1982 in Gozo, Malta, Victor Agius developed an early interest in sculpture through his father, Mario Agius. He grad- uated from the University of Malta's Fine Art Department in 2004 and pursued further stud- ies at the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture in Perugia (2009) and Central Saint Martin's, London (2011). Encompassing performance, in- stallation, sculpture, and paint- ing, his work engages with form- less, earth-derived materials to explore human existence and personal limits. Agius has exhib- ited widely in Malta, including at the National Museum of Fine Arts and Ġgantija Temples, and internationally in venues such as Florence, Rome, and Oxford.
