A new haematology clinic has begun operating at Gozo General Hospital, marking a significant expansion of spe- cialist medical services on the island and reducing the need for patients to travel to Malta for treatment. The clinic started providing services on 9 January and will offer specialized haematolo- gy care to Gozitan patients who previously had to attend appointments at the Sir An- thony Mamo Oncology Cen- tre (SAMOC) in Malta. The announcement was made by the Minister for Health Jo Etienne Abela. According to the minister, 180 new hematology cas- es were registered in 2025, while 737 Gozitan patients travelled to Malta for he- matology appointments at SAMOC.
