9 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 16 JANUARY 2026 CULTURE New exhibition explores time, myth, and the natural elements as earth enters 2026 AS the world steps into 2026, a new art exhibition invites audi- ences to reflect on the transition of time and the cycles of nature. Gateways and Portals, opening this month, explores the cultur- al, cosmical, and seasonal signif- icance of the first quarter of the year, including New Year's cel- ebrations, Holi, the Lunar New Year, Carnival, and the March Equinox. The exhibition examines themes of beginnings, purification, and renewal—concepts embedded in the origins of the Gregorian calen- dar and reflected in the names of the year's first months. According to organizers, Gate- ways and Portals acts as both a literal and symbolic threshold, en- couraging visitors to pause, reflect, and step consciously into what is emerging. The exhibition is ac- cessible both in-person and vir- tually, and highlights the classical elements—Fire, Water, Earth, and Air—as well as celestial spheres, Chinese mythology, and the con- trasting colors of blue and orange. Participating artists include: • Carri C, acrylic and mixed-media paintings • Christine Mizzi, tattoo art, candles, ceramics, acrylic and watercolour paintings • Hel. A. Crafts, needle-felted framed works • Loving Gozo Arts, acrylic paintings and découpaged artisanal items • Marisa Warwick, oil and watercolour paintings • Richie's Nature Photogra- phy, fine art photography • Shaun McGrath, fine art photography Private viewings are available by appointment at no additional cost.
