8 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 18 MARCH 2026 CULTURE Exhibition and presentation by photojournalist Reza part of the Malta Biennale 2026 UNDER the patronage of the Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government, Arts Council Malta (ACM) presents Women Grace above the Bat- tle, a photography exhibition by the world-renowned pho- tojournalist, Reza. The exhibi- tion will be open to the public in Triton Square in Floriana as of the 11th March as part of the Malta Biennale 2026. The pro- gramme also includes a public presentation titled Women, Life, Freedom that will be held on the 12th March in the Aula Magna at the Valletta Universi- ty Campus. The exhibition showcases dec- ades of photos of women from different continents in different environments in their day-to- day life. This project is aligned with ACM's wider vision of considering culture as a source of public wealth that helps to strengthen public engagement while also opening the doors to reflection and Malta's par- ticipation in international dia- logue. Reza's photography has long been known for its profound humanitarian perspective. The photojournalist's photos do not turn a blind eye towards suffer- ing but neither are they solely defined by it. When seen as a whole, these works of photogra- phy invite audiences to think not only of the challenges faced by women but also about wom- en's wide functions, their role within the family and commu- nities, and the various ways that women have shaped and shape our history. Dr Luke Dalli, Executive Chairman said "At Arts Coun- cil Malta we believe that art has the power to open conver- sations, connect communities and bring global perspectives closer to home. Hosting exhibi- tions such as this within public spaces like Triton Square allows art to reach everyone" The exhibition is accompanied by a presentation titled Wom- en, Life, Freedom. The public is invited to participate in this presentation, allowing them to be more closely involved in the idea behind the project and the wider questions raised by the project regarding representa- tion, dignity and the role played by the arts as a witness to this. The exhibition will run un- til the 12th April in Triton Square in Floriana while the public presentation will be held on the 12th March at the Aula Magna at the Valletta University Campus at 7:30pm.
