MALTAPOST is issuing a new philatelic set of four stamps cele- brating notable architectural land- marks across Malta and Gozo. From imposing bastions and magnificent Baroque churches to traditional limestone townhouses, Maltese architecture reflects cen- turies of Mediterranean influence and local craftsmanship. Ancient temples, grand palaces, narrow streets, and colourful balconies together tell the story of the rich architectural heritage of the Mal- tese Islands. The €0.20 stamp features two distinguished residences over- looking St Paul's Square in Mdi- na: the elegant Baroque Palazzo Gourgion and, in the foreground, the striking Neo-Gothic Casa Gourgion. The €0.45 stamp depicts the iconic Gothic-style chapel ded- icated to Our Lady of Lourdes, perched on a promontory over- looking Mġarr Harbour in Gozo. The chapel was designed by re- nowned architect Emanuele Luigi Galizia. The €1.50 stamp portrays the flamboyant façade of Casino No- tabile, formerly known as Point de Vue, a historic clubhouse situated on Saqqajja Hill in Rabat. The €2.00 stamp features the 19th-century clock tower and part of the former prison building within the Cittadella in Victoria, Gozo. All photographs featured in the stamp set were taken by local art- ists Maria Christina Bugeja and Mariah Grech. The stamps will be issued in sheets of 10, with each stamp measuring 44mm x 31mm, featuring a comb perforation of 14.1 x 14.2 and bearing the Mal- tese Cross watermark. The sheets measure 115mm x 182mm and were produced by Printex Ltd us- ing the offset printing process. The total issue consists of 100,000 stamps of the €0.20 de- nomination, 500,000 stamps of the €0.45 denomination, 200,000 stamps of the €1.50 denomination and 50,000 stamps of the €2.00 de- nomination.
