The first event will take place on Sunday 12 July at 7:30pm at Triq iż-Żonqor in Marsaskala, followed by a Gozo event on Monday 10 JULY at 7:30pm at Għajnsielem Parish Square. The celebrations will feature police displays, precision drill demonstrations and perfor- mances by the Malta Police Band, offering families and vis- itors an opportunity to meet of- ficers and learn more about the work carried out by the force. The events form part of Police Week 2026, marking more than two centuries of service by the Malta Police Force and its con- tinued efforts to strengthen its connection with the communi- ty. Attendance is free and every- one is welcome. The Malta Police Force will mark its 212th anniversary in Gozo with an evening of demonstrations, music and family-friendly activities at Għajnsielem Parish Square Illegal Marsalforn concrete works by Gozo Ministry being removed THE Planning Authority has or- dered the removal of an illegally constructed concrete path on the rocky foreshore in Marsalforn that was laid by Gozo Ministry workers. The removal works are being carried out this morning. In a statement, the PA said: "As soon as the Planning Authority was informed of the situation in Marsalforn, its enforcement of- ficers took immediate action, and restoration work at the site began shortly after." The authority added that it would continue to monitor the works closely. The pathway was constructed by the Gozo Ministry, however, Per- manent Secretary Mario Borg said on Facebook that he had not au- thorised such works to take place. "This work was done without my authorisation and without my knowledge. As the person respon- sible for the operational and ad- ministrative functions of the Gozo Ministry, I will do my all to ensure that if there are any illegalities, these are removed and not repeat- ed," Borg wrote. No explanation was given as to why workers poured concrete on the rocky foreshore. Gozo minister Clint Camilleri had earlier said he was informed of works carried out in Marsal- forn, adding that if they were not authorised, they would have to be removed. The issue was initially flagged by the Coalition for Gozo, made up of Wirt Għawdex, Din l-Art Ħel- wa Għawdex and Għawdix, which sent questions to the Planning Authority and the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) over the works. The coalition said: "We are de- manding answers to our questions about this atrocity. Meanwhile, Opposition Gozo spokesperson Frank Anthony Tabone rdemanded accounta- bility for the illegal works, asking who had authorised them, what permits were issued and what pre- cautions were taken during the re- moval operation to avoid further damage to the area. The authority added that it would continue to monitor the works closely In the photos, cement can be seen to have been poured on the coastal rocks of Marsalforn (Photo: Facebook) The Gozo event will take place at Ghajnsielem Parish Square (Photo: Malta Police Force)
