CLASSIFIEDS info@mediatoday.com.mt 8 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 2 AUGUST 2026 CULTURE & CLASSIFIEDS Reflections Through Time REFLECTIONS Through Time is a collective exhibition by three artists — Malta-based Inese Refalo, Latvia-based Zel- tite Upeniece, and Sicily-based Francesca Puglisi, exploring how the passing of time shapes our memories, inviting visitors to pause and reconnect with the moments and relationships that often go unnoticed. Rather than giving definitive answers, the exhibition embrac- es curiosity. Combining inter- active elements with painting, printmaking and mixed media, the works invite us to stay a lit- tle longer, explore and reflect how time shapes the way we see the world around us. While each artist brings with them their own distinct visual language, together they form a cohesive dialogue celebrating individuality through shared values. The exhibition will be held at the Malta Society of Arts, Valletta, from 9 to 23 October 2026. The opening event will take place on Friday, 9 October at 7:00 pm, offering visitors the opportunity to meet the artists and discover the ideas and crea- tive processes behind the works. Francesca Puglisi Based in Palermo, Italy, Franc- esca Puglisi is a designer and textile artist. Following her graduation in Design in 2011, she explored different fields ranging from interior design and architecture to the realms of 3D modelling and 3D print- ing. Driven by a deep passion for nature and a true com- mitment to the environment, Francesca channelled these val- ues in 2021 into tintabrada, her latest personal and professional project. As a natural dyer and textile designer, she investigates the potential of plant- and in- sect-based dyes to craft low-im- pact, eco-friendly pieces in both textiles and paper, each carry- ing a deep connection to na- ture. Her favoured technique is eco printing, through which she creates unique artworks show- casing natural elements in a tru- ly sustainable manner. Frances- ca's diverse journey has exposed her to a wide range of realities and mediums, nurturing in her the art of perseverance. This has driven her to continuously learn new techniques and approach- es, enriching her knowledge and skills on an ever-evolving path, always fuelled by a desire to connect with others and inspire them. Her guiding principle and personal motto is: 'Knowledge is power, but unshared knowl- edge is a wasted resource'. Zeltite Upeniece Zeltīte Upeniece is a Lat- via-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice brings to- gether art, tailoring, and astrol- ogy. Her creative background in- cludes fashion design and tex- tile arts, mandala drawing, and watercolour studies. Her expe- rience brings together crafts- manship and symbolic thinking, shaping a visual language that is both deeply personal and con- temporary. Watercolour is her prima- ry medium: she is drawn to its balance between fluidity and precision, spontaneity and con- trol. Inspired by nature and the subtle connections between the visible and the unseen, her work invites viewers to reflect and form their own interpretations. For Zeltīte, art is more than visual expression – it is a way of understanding the world, asking questions, and creating mean- ingful connections through every piece. "What cannot be said can still be seen." Inese Refalo Originally from Latvia, Inese Refalo has been based in Malta for the past 15 years, where she has established an independent practice as both an artist and interior designer. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Interi- or Design. Main art mediums used are acrylic, lino printing and mixed media incorporat- ing upcycled materials. She of- ten uses upcycled elements and experimenting with different materials. Working primarily in abstraction while incorporat- ing realistic imagery and animal motifs, her work is inspired by personal experiences, as well as her passion for design, travel, and the natural world. Driven by determination and a commitment to continuous growth, she is constantly seek- ing to expand her knowledge and refine her practice as both a designer and artist. She be- lieves that the skills and insights she gains are most meaningful when shared, inspiring and sup- porting others in their own cre- ative journeys. Each of her art- works is a carefully considered project, rooted in purpose and storytelling, while remaining open to personal interpretation, allowing viewers to discover connections that resonate with their own experiences.
