In a Facebook post, Bonett said the ongoing works were intended to improve the fa- cilities available to passengers using the fast ferry service be- tween Malta and Gozo. "Currently, work is underway at Mġarr Harbour to improve the facilities for the thousands of passengers who choose the fast ferry as part of their jour- ney," Bonett said. He added that further meas- ures would be introduced in the coming days to strengthen the service, which he described as a popular mode of transport. Fourth transformative summer camp for Ukrainian children held in Gozo FOR the fourth year in a row, the Gozo Regional Council is host- ing a group of Ukrainian youths, hailing from war-torn regions near the border with Russia. The Gozo Region organised this ini- tiative in collaboration with the Association for Ukrainian Cities. The council said the youths will spend 7 days in Gozo, attending a varied number of activities organised by Local Councils in Gozo and a Gozitan Youth Cen- tre. In this show of international solidarity, 10 youths and their leader get a break from the hav- oc of war. The youths range between the ages of 9 and 17. They will at- tend several activities in Gozo – from physical activities such as watersports, boat rides and walking with alpacas to more social activities such as games with local youths. The flights, accommodation, local transpor- tation and some meals are being provided by the Gozo Regional Council while the activities are sponsored by the participating Local Councils and organisation. The Local Councils that par- ticipated in this initiative are Ra- bat Città Victoria, Għajnsielem, Għarb, Għasri, Kercem, Qala, San Lawrenz, Xagħra, Xewkija and Żebbuġ. Each Local Council and the Nadur Teen and Youth Centre (NTYC) will show the youths around their respective locality and organise fun activ- ities such as swimming, feed- ing farm animals, ice-breaking games, dancing and even a boat tour around the island of Comi- no. The youths also get a taste of Gozitan culture as they taste some traditional food. English-speaking couples in Gozo mark 60 years of marriage SUNDAY, 30 August, was a special occasion for the Eng- lish-speaking Catholic com- munity that gathers for Mass every Sunday at the Gozo Seminary Chapel. Four cou- ples celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary between October 2025 and October 2026 marked the milestone with a thanksgiving Mass. Cardinal Mario Grech presid- ed over the Mass and deliv- ered a homily offering a beau- tiful reflection on Christian marriage and the bonds that hold it together in a rapidly changing world. Those marking their Dia- mond Wedding Jubilee at- tended the Mass: Francesca and Brian Coen (26 Decem- ber 1965), Veronica and John Grech (27 August 1966), and Lilian and Reginald Fitzpat- rick (8 October 1966), accom- panied by family and friends. Another couple, Isabel and Chris Barlow (1 October 1966)—who attend regularly when in Gozo—were unable to be present as they were back home in Scotland.
