Directed by Malta's own Francesca Grima "La Chica" and percussionist Andrej Vujicic, Puerto Flamenco brings an all-new production to Teatru Salesjan, featuring an exceptional cast from Seville's flamenco scene. Nature Notebook AS summer comes to an end, the Save Our Shores campaign is en- tering its final month with the reopening of the Save Our Shores Ex- hibition at Marsascala Promenade. The location itself reflects one of the campaign's main concerns, as Marsascala has experienced several cases where public coastal space has been occupied or privatised. The exhibition explores the impact of maritime industries on local communities through the photography of Darrin Zammit Lupi and re- search by Julian Delia. It aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting Malta's coastline and keeping public spaces accessible to everyone. The exhibition will be open from 10 to 15 September, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the campaign and sign the Save Our Shores petition. The campaign calls for Malta's shores to be protected for the com- mon good, rather than for the benefit of a wealthy few. The initiative is supported by The Minor Foundation for Major Challenges, with additional support from 2point3 Studio, MRN and Marsascala Local Council. Damselfish THE damselfish is one of our most common fish, perhaps at its most evident around this time of year, as thousands of young begin to venture out of their sheltering rocks. The minuscule neon-blue fry lose their bright livery and gradually go all dark brown like their parents, which is why this fish is known as ċawla in Maltese, this being also the name of the jackdaw, a grey-black bird. Damselfish are gregarious and live in shoals sometimes numbering thousands. They love to hang a metre or two below the surface, milling around and shooting out their extendable mouth (split second action) to gobble floating microscopic plankton. Damselfish will let you ap- proach and even reach out and almost touch them.
